“Coming Down From Black Mountain” is a signed, original, oil painting. The romance of the West, the Cowboy and Horses is a subject I always return to. I live both in Colorado and in Nevada, so I have an endless supply of personal photography that I draw from for my paintings. / Thank you for viewing my art. VIEW mygallery / View susan’szazzle /
This is a composite of three photos, a sculpture of the herd (by a local artist I am told), a close-up of just one of the horses, and a wagon in my sister’s yard.
Pastel of black Friesian stallion, white Arabian mare & palomino foal. / This painting was a commission for a friend’s young daughter who chose the colours of the horses herself. / SOLD

Took this picture today. A little photoshop and this is what I came up with. Love to hear what you think of it:) Shot with Nikon D60 55-200 AF VR lens.
He just looks like he’s dancing to me and I remembered the title of that old eighties movie Tango and Cash…indulge me, I have the flu and my brain is more than a bit muddled at the moment..lol /

A magnificent black stallion
I shot this with my Canon Rebel XT and the 70-200 L IS lens. This was shot in raw in afternoon light while sitting on the ground as the stallion ran free around me. Rather intimidating but he is really quite a gentle giant. :) This is a Friesian stallion. He is owned by Stefanie Maas of Cave Creek, Arizona, USA. / I converted the photo in CS3 and used the extract filter to eliminate all the distracting elements in the background. I then drug it over onto a textured bg/frame by “StruckDumb” from Deviant Art. I added more texture with grunge brushes in muted colors. I also used the clone tool to add a bit more mane.
Acrylic on back stapled stretched canvas. 20” x 16”
This is the only word I can come up with for my image of this gorgeous quarter horse mare. This is Rebecca’s little pony quarter horse mare Peppy, she is QH but only 14 hands tall. / Taken with Nikon D100 / 1/250sec / F stop 2.8 / focul length 200mm / ISO 200 / This image is a Challenge Winner in the Black Animals challenge in the group: Good News Group / / Thanks for the feature Pony Club! /
A beautiful Friesian stallion and his lovely owner Stefanie Maas of Cave Creek, Arizona. We designed the costume and her mother-in-law did all the sewing. I wanted to create a Medieval look that is so fitting for this breed. Shot in raw with my Canon Rebel XT in late afternoon light. Converted in CS3 and gave it a softness for a dreamy feel.
Nikon D40 with 18-55mm GII lens / 55mm ~ 1/200’s ~ f / 6.3 ~ ISO=200 / Tripod / Auto Focus / RAW / Processed in Nikon Capture NX 2 software / _______ / _______ / _______
This is a composite. The horse is a shot I took, with my Canon Rebel XT, of a Friesian stallion named Leo, owned by Stefanie Maas of Cave Creek, Arizona. The texture background is by dknucklesstock. I added more textures with brushes in PS, over the horse and in various places, using layers, to integrate the horse into the setting better and to give it a aged, grungy look.
