are small to average sized lizards belonging to the family Gekkonidae which are found in warm climates throughout the world. Geckos are unique among lizards in their vocalizations, making chirping sounds in social interactions with other geckos. There are 1,196 different species of geckos. The name stems from the Malay word gekok, imitative of its cry. Geckos are unusual in other respects as well. Most geckos have no eyelids and instead have a transparent membrane which they lick to clean. Many species will, in defense, expel a foul-smelling material and feces onto their aggressors. Many species have specialized toe pads that enable them to climb smooth vertical surfaces and even cross indoor ceilings with ease. These antics are well-known to people who live in warm regions of the world where several species of geckos make their home inside human habitations. These species (for example the house gecko) become part of the indoor menagerie and are seldom really discouraged because they feed on insect pests.
Death is the end of the life of a biological organism. Death may refer to the end of life as either an event or condition. Many factors can cause or contribute to an organism’s death, including predation, disease, habitat destruction, senescence, malnutrition and accidents or physical injury. The principal causes of human death in developed countries are diseases related to aging.
Rabbits are ground dwellers that live in environments ranging from desert to tropical forest and wetland.Nearly half of the world’s rabbit species are in danger of extinction; many are among the most vulnerable of all mammals. / Rabbits kept in a home as pets for companionship are referred to as house rabbits. They typically have an indoor pen and a rabbit-safe place to run and exercise, such as a living or family room. Rabbits are easily trained to use a litter box and can learn to come when called. House rabbits are quiet pets, but are unsuitable for households with small children as they are easily frightened by loud noises and can be harmed by mishandling.
A flock of Black Cockatoos flew in to have breakfast in the front yard. I grabbed the camera, no time for a tripod, and shot away. Luckily they didn’t fly off I must have looked funny with just my pj shorts on. Heathridge, Perth, Western Australia. Olympus E300
I’ve never seen a wild snake eat carion before…..... / This black snake decided to pick up a ‘to-go’ meal on the road. A nest of baby birds somehow had gotten hit on the road and this clever fellow decided not to let them go to waste. He’d already injested 2 if the lumps in his body were any proof. I’d just never heard of/seen a rat snake eat roadkill. Learn something new everyday. / I also liked how the flies were still buzzying around it even as he was swallowing.
then eat your words.

I decided to give SC another go and try and aim for a Set of Two! Ok so we may live in rural France but there are some places that really know how to cook up a storm and this is one of them – however it is not in our Department but in my In-laws Department the Charente…many nice restuarants around their area but I love this one because of it’s yummy food and it’s very picturesque…..so named after the great meteorite that landed in the area and made one very large indent in the countryside which became a valley…….. This female Blackbird, among other featherballs, has been doing a great job this winter in devouring the red crab apple berries on this tree in our back garden. The red fruit are a real mess when they fall on the ground and get trodden underfoot, so “Bravo” to all my feathered friends! ;o) p.s. just look at that long yellow tongue!!! My spider friend! Taken in my backyard on the 17th of October, 2009. This is a black and white jumping spider (not sure what species etc.). You have to be very wary of these little guys that they don’t jump on your lens! I caught this guy having a snack while observing me curiously. Canon 400D and 100mm macro lens.
