Drove up the top of the hill because we had a dust storm blowing through town, by the time I took this shot the dust had all but blown away but there were plenty of storm clouds left. / Taken at the radio towers north of Newman, in left of the image you can see part of the BHP whaleback mine. Chris Fortier is one of the worlds top Dj’s. Hailing from Canada Chris started the label Fade with his mate Steve Porter. As the producer, he has released over 40 original productions and remixed countless more. Most notably in 1998, scoring an international dance hit with his original reworking of Delerium’s “Silence. The background for this shot has been overused for wedding photos in Melbourne. However the reason I wanted to use it for this shot was to get the pure impact of the angles to really enhance Chris’ face. I figure the key to a successful shot is either taking something that’s never been taken before… Or… taking one that has been oversaturated in the market and doing something different with it.

I love the look of this wall and roller door, wish I had had more time in melbourne and a model to shoot in-front of it. / one of those locations you keep in the back of your head for later.

My first real effort at HDR, but I cant help but put some of the contrast back, think will keep playing with the idea though. / Abandoned mining equipment, Newman WA. / S5Pro 17-35 2.8 at 17mm, HDR from 3 bracketed exposures, selective colour and high pass from capture NX.
