  • Man walking on the ocean coast of New Zealand (black and white)

  • This is the first in a new series of images that I am working on. They are all ultra-long expsosure images taken of the coastline before dawn. The water is totally blurred due to the long exposure and you are left with ghostly images of rocks emerging from a kind of ghostly mist. The images were converted with a sepia split-tone.

  • Taken on Scenic Drive. Carmel, California. November, 2007. There’s an interesting story behind this photograph, and #244, “Scenic & 8th. I was in a local camera store in Carmel, the manager of the store was telling me my camera was a toy because it wasn’t a high priced SLR, like he seels in the store. Obviously this annoyed me because i knew what my camera was capable of doing. So I left the store, walked down toward the beach, saw these Cypress trees, and took these shots in about five minutes. / I then walked back up to the camera store, and showed them to the manager, and the staff. They were impressed with the quality of the images. / I love my camera! I’m using the Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 That is what I used to take almost all the photographs in my portfolio. I’m satisfied with the performance of that camera. The images speak for themselves.

  • well I’m leaving this morning / squeeze in one final shot / a photograph longing to live / passed the time that’s gone quickly / the time that’s gone slow / now the time has but nothing to give words written on postcards / are making the claim / without question I have been to this place / and backed up by this picture / I’m guilty as charged / it’s written all over my face sneak into the cave / past the sniggering rockpools / that caused me to submerge my toes / to then be met by the falling / of suicide droplets / each one pounding considerable blows tripod legs planted / camera scanning the scene / hunting for the lay of the land / but it’s so dark in here / the lens struggles to focus / as I try to work out where to stand and meanwhile the waves are rushing away / either shy / or unfashionably late / there’s too much dark inside / and the outside’s aglow / it’s a contrast I can’t quite equate so this might be the one time / I venture these caves / for shame the shot wasn’t quite right / but if chance should allow to recapture somehow / it won’t be the dark that I dismiss / it’ll be the light —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Portreath, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk

  • Bangor seafront in County Down, Northern Ireland on a very stormy morning – getting a lot of those lately. Seemed to work best in black and white but feel free to tell me otherwise as I’m not very good at it! / Canon 5D mkII 17-40 f4L. 2 stop ND grad. 1.5 sec exposure. Best viewed larger.

  • FEATURED in Young Enthusiasts Approaching storm over Hallet Cove, South Australia. Captured just at sunset at about 8:00 at night. DETAILS Cannon 500D (RAW) / 18 – 55mm IS Kit Lens (20mm) / 1/2 Sec / f 22 / ISO 100 Converted to Black and White and minor adjustments and crop in Adobe Lightroom 2 and Adobe Photoshop CS4. If anyone would care to leave any comments regarding long exposures to achieve wispy water I would be very grateful. I am having trouble getting exposures long enough without blowing out the highlights. I have seen some images with 2-3 second exposures yet even at my smallest aperture I cannot get anything below 1/2 second. Cheers, / Danny FEATURED in Young Enthusiasts
