Chinook clouds are a unique cloud formation found mainly in southern Alberta, Canada. A chinook is also known as the “snow eater” as it brings in warm air into the region during the winter. My sky shots are 100% natural and have not been altered or enhanced.
This photo of a silhouetted cross against a beautiful sunset was taken in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada right across the street from my house. My then girlfriend, now wife pointed out the cross, so I got down to ground level and took the shot. I was using a Canon PowerShot A640 camera at the time. / This was the very first image that I added to RedBubble and it has been one of my most popular image for views, comments, and favoritings to date. / _____________ / Check out more of my art from these categories: / Holiday Cards / Abstracts / Sketches / Birds / Seascapes/Landscapes/Sunsets / / Subscribe to art updates / Subscribe to T-shirt updates / Become a fan on FaceBook / Add me as a friend on FaceBook / Follow me on Twitter _____________ /

Bow Lake. Alberta, Canada / March 2008 Inspired by comments from Stuart Chapman and Rhana Griffin on my last upload of this stunning setting, I decided to revisit this location… if only I could have actually revisited for real, but sadly only through my many pictures… This really was an expanse of breath taking scenery and I was more than happy to pull this one out of the bag…
This is a composite of three photos, a sculpture of the herd (by a local artist I am told), a close-up of just one of the horses, and a wagon in my sister’s yard.

Background Information: / Tofino is a village of about 1,650 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, and is thus a part of Clayoquot Sound. Islands in the vicinity include Meares, Vargas and Flores. Lone Cone on Meares Island is an extinct volcano. Tofino and the nearby town of Ucluelet are the closest towns to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography. A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino’s population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, however, many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane. They say that the grass is always greener on the other side… ...it may not be that easy to get to but well worth the effort! I’ve been trying to get to those greener pastures for a while now and yesterday its looks like I just found a gate! It’s not green but the future is definately looking brighter! 29.08.08 Taken on the road from Tofino to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. British Columbia. March 2008. Thank you Claire once again for putting aside your camera for a while to satisfy my whims!
I think this image is something of an optical illusion. to me, it appears to bulge out, even though it’s concave. you decide.

I took the original photo of my friend’s dog last summer with my Canon DSLR at a campsite in Ontario. I really liked the image but wanted to kick it up a notch :) I redid the entire image in Corel Painter starting with a gentle watercolor blend of the background. I then repainted the entire collar, cloned out some distractions and gave it a vibrant and new red tone. Every single piece of hair on the dog was then painted & blended with watercolor and airbrushes. follow me as I take the road less travelled…........ Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, / And sorry I could not travel both / And be one traveler, long I stood / And looked down one as far as I could / To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, / And having perhaps the better claim / Because it was grassy and wanted wear; / Though as for that, the passing there / Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay / In leaves no step had trodden black. / Oh, I marked the first for another day! / Yet knowing how way leads on to way / I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh / Somewhere ages and ages hence: / Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, / I took the one less traveled by, / And that has made all the difference. / (c) Robert Frost Nikon D70 5 cards sold
A photo I took during one of the worst winter storms in Maritime history. They named it “White Juan” after “Hurricane Juan” that devasted most of the province only months before. It was storming and the fog was like pea soup… at the same time! There is an apartment complex just on the other side of those trees but you’d never think it.
