Sometimes there is humanity within abstraction. I’m not sure the proper way to put it, but this, of all my art, bears my humanity. It may seem odd that I consider this myself as other… but the it no rule dictating if other must be human, fantastical, or pure energy upon paper. I consider this to be myself, simply ripped apart and dug into deeply. / This may look like nothing, but it actually was one of the most intensive experiences I’ve had in the visual arts. I find a bit of direction and even peace in it, though its colors are those of anger and melancholy. I chose to post it because I believe in the soul of a work of art, and know for sure that souls, those not inborn, must develop by rubbing off of another through regular interaction – something can be the most magnificent picture/painting in the world, but it is as empty as laser-pigment on bleached printer paper if it came in a flash… likewise the worst image imaginable may have a deepness to shame the ocean if it was danced with for weeks, months, years… there is notable merit in beauty alone, sure, but a soul is often required to speak freely to others.

This was painted in Photo Shop on a blank file set at 300 dpi. This painting is NOT photo generated or photo manipulation. This Is Mitch. He is my creation. He is was born in Venice Italy. His mother is Italian his father… well your just going to have to wait till I get his first chapter written. His family moved to the states , NYC, when he was 6. / After his father died his mother (never very caring in the first place) took off and he was left alone to bury his father at the age of 9. The only thing of value he had was a black Journal. After reading it Mitch finds out he is much more than just human. The continence of the journal was the history of his grandfather. Not wanting what happened to his grandfather to happen to him, Mitch takes to the streets. He spent his time growing up on the streets where he met an old blues player who taught him to play a guitar and sing the blues. That’s how he got money, singing on the streets and in joints. With his deep soulful voice and good looks getting a gig was easy. But it wasn’t enough, not for the life he wanted. / So being Italian… It was easy for him to find “other” work. He had learned to knife fight on the streets and became quite good. Then he hooks up with a small time drug lord and so it begins his true life of crime, soon Mitch becomes the right arm man for one of the biggest Mobsters in NYC…… Later , at the height of his success, just 18 Mitch unknowingly kills the Godfather’s nephew in a jealous rage, now he’s their target. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. An ambition of mine / Held for quite some time / Was to learn the lines / To Auld Lang Syne Now admittedly I’ve struggled / For the dialect’s dutch-double / Like missing pieces from a puzzle / That the dog’s just guzzled But I’m understanding some / And the rest will come along / With practice I’ll perform / This great poem with aplomb Along the cliffs and crackled shore / The words of Burns come to the fore / But seas between us braid hae roar’d / And will echo here forevermore And when past days are long but gone / It’ll do you good to keep friendships strong / Should auld acquaintance be forgot? / For if you don’t have that then you’ve not a lot At least that’s what Rabbie Burns would say / If he were still alive today / And every New Year arms will sway / To sing the song in his memory 250 years since the day of his birth / I thought long and hard and considered it worth / Marking the occasion, a tribute of sorts / To the genius Scot, the greatest poet on earth Thus I dedicate this / To the master of verse / Though my memory’s getting worse / So best get back and rehearse —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Lunan Bay, near Arbroath, Angus, Scotland © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk

Another image from my ‘green room’ series, shot at ABM. This time I elected to concentrate on light and composition instead of colour. It would have been so easy to crank up the red on the ‘Ladder Safety’ poster… but I like the darker B&W mood here rather more. At full magnification it is still possible to read every word of the ‘Ode to Roger’ pinned on the noticeboard.
