"Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?" Acts 26:14 With these words from heaven Saul soon realized that despite his fervor and self-sacrifice for his religion he was in direct opposition to God. Saul had his religion all figured out, yet he had devoted his life to serve a God that he really didn’t know. As a follower of Jesus Christ I also wonder sometimes if my “religion” is my way of serving myself, or if I am really living for my Lord? I hope that everything I do in my life is pleasing to Him, and not just my own self-defined attempt to be religious or godly in my own mind. This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! I’ve planted plenty of plants to interest butterflies and caterpillars, but with few butterflies visiting my garden. I was excited when I saw some eggs on my fennel. Here is one of the two survivors. Now I’m hovering over them anxiously, wondering how much I should interfere when crab spiders, dragonflies and other predators come near.
