Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (no 2 from series of 3 re-worked). Shot two seperate models & P/S combined them. I also draw in & enhanced part of the headpeice, the body, the dress, added a fringe to the face, hid the eyes, made the features more angular, blew up the lips, created cheekbones, reworked the branches, filtered wallpaper effects, extended the chandelier, added lacework/flower elements, desaturated the lot & added a sepia tone. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers.

Photographic based digital montage – Feb, 2008. Created over several hrs…2 nights this week (suffering from concussion) from an accidental fall over the wk’end. Photoshop montage combining digital shots of jewels, scanned samples of vintage style wallpaper and added drawn elements. Fifty layers retouched, blended, filtered, colour & tonal curve adjusted. I’m considering using the design as a furniture (upholstering) velvety/suede fabric for a small round bedroom foot stool.

I used 3 different photgraphs for this piece. They were each public domain listed. I took them into photoshop and did a slight few changes. The eyes fot this piece are UNALTERED from the original photo…..which I believe is from a variety of squid tentacles. (Bottom suction cups of tentacles). It is an amazing photo…. of which I used just the one area of the suction pads for the stunning eyes in this piece!! I painted the rest aroun the face ard eyes and mouth the hand the earinga ans all else was digitally painted FEATURED IN UNCONVENTIONAL ARTISTRY

I was trying out a watery effect (uses chrome filter and some others ) that I learned a bit obout from the photoshop tutorials.

THIS IS A VERY CLOSE UP SHOT OF A PRAYING MANTIS ON THE HOSE REEL IN MY BACK YARD. THE CAMERA USED TO GET THIS CLOSE WAS MY CANON EOS KISS REBEL D300 AND MY 75-300MM AF MACRO TELEPHOTO LENS. THE LENS WAS SET AT APPROXIMATELY 275MM, IN ORDER FOR IT TO FOCUS THIS CLOSE. I KEPT AN EYE ON THIS MANTIS FOR ABOUT ONE WEEK, WHILE HE EXPLORED MY YARD. THEN, ONE DAY, LIKE A GROWN CHILD, HE FLEW THE COOP AND I’VE NEVER SEEN HIM SINCE. IT’S HARD LOOSING A PET, ESPECIALLY ONCE YOU GET USED TO IT BEEING THERE FOR YOU. I THINK I WILL STICK TO WOLF HYBRIDS, THEY LIVE A LONGER TIME AND ARE MORE LOYAL TO YOU THAN A MANTIS IS. LOL THE ONLY CHANGE I DID TO THE PHOTO IN THE COMPUTER WAS TO GO TO A DIFFERENT COLOR GRADIENT. IT MAKES “THE PRAYING MANTIS”, LOOK LIKE IT’S DOMINATING OVER A WORLD THAT HAS GONE UP IN FLAME.

took a long time to get this set up right, the colours work great together.

I TOOK SOME PHOTOS OF THE FLAMES THAT WERE TOWERING OUT OF MY GRILL ONLY SECONDS AFTER I LIT THE CHARCOALS. THIS PARTICULAR SHOT LOOKS LIKE THE RIGHT SIDE PROFILE OF A PERSONS HEAD WITH HIS TONGUE STICKING OUT, AS IF TO ASK THE DOCTOR, “IS MY TONGUE BURNT?”. NOT TO MENTION, THERE IS A SEPERATE GHOSTLY IMAGE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HEAD THAT I CAN’T QUITE FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. THIS IMAGE WAS TAKEN WITH A CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL D-300 WITH A QUANTARAY 75-300 F:5.6:1 TELEPHOTO LENS. NO FLASH WAS NEEDED. I SHOT THIS IN AUTO MODE, SO THAT THE CAMERA WOULD ADJUST FOR THE LIGHT THAT IT NEEDED WITHOUT ME HAVING TO DO ANYTHING TO IT IN THE DIGITAL DARKROOM. I USE A CIRCULAR POLARIZING FILTER ON MY LENS, IT HELPS KNOCK OUT HAZE AND GLARE. ONE THING ABOUT SHOOTING FLAMES OF ANYKIND, SOMETIMES YOU GET IMAGES IN THE FLAMES, SOMETIMES YOU GET FLAMES AND NO REAL DISTINCT IMAGES, SO IT IS ALWAYS A GAMBLE IF THE SHOT IS GOING TO BE USEFULL OR NOT.

This is a CLOSE UP of the other cloud formation this pattern of lines / just kept going and going off into infinity as far as the eyes could see at least / something STRANGE is up here wouldn’t you say? can you say CONSPIRACY?
