A casual scene in an alien home. I thought of Vermeer for inspiration at some point in terms of the light, the ordinary nature of the scene and the interior view etc.
See comments on print version. I produced a special card in order to get the dimensions right.

He has left her to go into town for supplies. They are completely out of food. The children cry, hungry in their beds. She goes out to wait for him by the river. Fearing in her heart and soul that he might be lost, in the frigid darkness. She waits hoping and praying. She waits even as her body grows numb. She waits for the warmth of his touch. A touch that never comes. She waits…She waits…forever.

The surface of this sea urchin test looks like the bizarre landscape of an alien planet—“Planet Urchin” :o) Odd but beautiful and very intricate patterns become very visible under the “eye” of the macro lens.

If you stand close to the edge of the Grand Canyon on a moonless night (which I don’t recommend), you can sometimes hear these rare nocturnal ostriches of northern Arizona climbing about the cliffs; but a daytime sighting is very unusual indeed. As soon as this one heard my camera click he scurried into a small crevasse and was gone, fortunately I was able to get this one shot before he disappeared. I’m hoping to go back soon to catch one of them training their young in the art of cliff climbing. I understand the best time to catch this training session is right at sunrise. Let me know if you happen to be in the Grand Canyon area and see any ostrich droppings at the bottom of the cliffs. That’s a sure sign that the herd is on the move and I need to act fast if I’m going to get me another good shot. Enjoy!

©Seth F. Weaver, Sr. 02/13/09. Compullage™ about a bizarre experiment that was to suppose to restore a beautiful woman elegant china skin but instead it slowly changed her skin into snakeskin. It was not only her beautiful skin that was grotesquely altered but also her tongue, and her kisses that were once pure and sweet are now venomously lethal.
The humour, the comic element in Martin Langer’s photography is seldom staged, he is a close observer of every day life with enormous patience when waiting for the decisive moment. And if it is staged, for instance when portraying toy figures, it is with an almost childish, playful joy that Langer finds in the inanimate object a human gesture, an instinctive humour that leaves the observer smiling. „My pictures“, he says, „don’t claim truthfulness. They reflect a situation. They want to entertain. They are snapshots, documenting humourous situations, throwing a twinkeling glance at every day life.“
This took my 6+ hours of hardcore fine liner hand drawn insanity. I hope it blows your mind, and I hope you like it. Expect a part 2 coming soon! I just need the motivation.
I know a lot of you are thinking I set this up. I did not. My path is blessed with finding the absolutely bizarre when I have a camera along. (always) Hasselblad 500CM Tri X film
