While travelling in Romania I met a mysterious woman whose wild azure eyes burned right through my skull. She told me of a crazy party at a secret club that was on that night. / It happened once a year and was only known to a select few. I asked where it was so she drew a map on my hand and told me to meet her there at 12am. / I turned up a bit early and the club was shut, quiet as a graveyard on a winters night. / So I went back to my hotel and read a book.

After years and years of having strange people insert hands into their hind quarters, up through their guts, and into their heads in order to mockingly animate their lifeless corpses with comical movements and embarrassingly lame voices, the puppets have revolted. Infused with demonic strength, an insatiable thirst for flesh, and fueled by the need for revenge, their one and only goal is to see us all dead and they will not stop until the job is done. You can run, but they’re faster. You can hide, but they’ll find you. You can call the police, but oops…the police are already dead. Their flimsy plush arms are extensions of the devil himself and there is no escape.

It was dark. And the smell of death hung heavy in the damp, stagnant air. I knew it wasn’t safe, but the promise and the temptation pulled me forward… deeper and deeper until I was in way too far to turn back. Suddenly she was upon me, the manifestation of my dreams surrounding me in multiple visions of my burning lust… but turned against me with the force of a thousand demons and sinking sharp into my taut skin like steel rivets… There was no escape this time. I am truly captive as she appears again and again to torment my soul. Even if I survive, I know that I will never be released as I am under the curse of the raven. / My spirit to roam free, never more. Never more… But jeeze, what an awesome way to go, yeah? An occupational hazzard associated with being the official photographer for the RSPCA WA! This little guy’s sole agenda was to jump at me and latch onto whatever he could. In this case it was the leg of my jeans, but he also had a good chew on my hand, camera strap and even a 50mm lens! This puppy was re-homed the day this shot was taken. Profit portion of any sales will go to the RSPCA WA. Taken with a Canon 5D and 50mm prime lens @ f1.8, ISO 1000, 1/400th sec, handheld. Featured in Canon DSLR Group Feb 2009. Featured in Workshop Camera Club June 2009.
