Traveling by rail has always seemed antiquated to most Americans. Which is what makes it even more savvy, and cool. Sort of. Trains that take you to “suburbia” are tantamount to a Cruise Ship, going to the Cote d’Azur. (Spot on, what’s the point?) Trains that get you under, above and around Chicago, thats how you roll. In memory of my beloved min pin “Pinky” (10.09.1994 – 18.07.2007). Pinky’s a big dog in a little package. She was stubborn, spoilt, alert, smart, very loyal, playful, snappy, loud, amusing, feisty, but most of all, loved by her family and she loved us back just as much. We will miss you always, baby.

On the road north to Central Australia there is some pretty deserted country. The wild life is still not completely confident of crossing roads which had at that time no speed limit, and it could be either a little car or a road train (like 3 semi trailers hooked together) coming. Naturally those native species which can take advantage of ‘road kill’ do so whenever possible. We soon found that when beside the road they take little notice of a speeding car, but if the car slows down they become apprehensive, and if the car stops they vanish. Fortunately in this case my wife was driving and we had learned to slow down and I had the camera ready. There was no second chance as as soon as the dog saw we were interested in it, the dingo (native wild dog) vanished. It looked as if it could do with a good meal. Taken with a Pentax Z1p on Kodachrome 200 film
