Went to the Michaelmas fair in the little Shropshire village of Bishops Castle, there were live bands playing in Pub beer gardens, market stalls and more entertainment in the closed off main street. Vintage cars, bikes and tractors, paraded down the street and this little cottage was tucked away at the end of the village. It was like stepping back in time :))

My work is featured in the group Painters In Modern Times / (Thanks Everyone at PIMT!) Oil on Glass This is the print version of my painting This is the newest addition to my series “Journey Through Africa”, the other three included a Red Bishop bird, an African tree in a field and a giraffe in it’s habitat. This piece is of one of my favorite creatures, the blue poison dart frog. They are found in Africa and South America and were not discovered till around 1960’s. It’s stunning natural colors really attracted me to it in creating this work. This piece like the other two in the series was also painted on an antique mirror. I take something old and forgotten and create something new, yet try to keep the aged or classic feel throughout the piece. Usually just looking at a prospective mirror I see what I will paint next in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in creating it! / I am currently working on another new piece in this series… Here are the other works in the series and framed: / / / Some Originals AVAILABLE, if interested please inquire You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

My camera was poked through the railings to get this shot, I got scratched to bits with his bushes, but I think it was worth it.

Little Lakes Valley is one of my favorite places to visit. It gets kinda crowded in the summer but if you go late enough in the day it clears out. On this day the crowds were especially light because it was raining on and off. I took this on my way back to the trailhead from a long hike to Treasure Lakes. I saw this lone wildflower in the meadow and it lured me in. The flower is called lupine and it usually flourishes here in spring.

High on windswept ridges in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in eastern California’s White Mountains live the planet’s oldest known living organisms – the ancient Bristlecone Pines (Pinus longaeva). Some of these trees were already growing when the Egyptians built the pyramids over 4000 years ago. The oldest known Bristlecone Pine is “Methuselah”. This gnarled and twisted tree is about 4,800 years old – and still able to reproduce. But only a few bristlecones have been able to grow to such incredibly old ages, survived ultraviolet rays, extreme cold, wind, and aridity in this harsh environment between the Eastern Sierra Nevada and Death Valley in an elevation between 10,000 and 11,000 feet (3,048 and 3,354 meters) above sea level. These old trees, the oldest living things on earth, 2800 years older than Christ, are now strictly protected by law and guarded carefully. Thank you for being my friend Card / Laminated Print / Please note: RedBubble automatically re-sharpens and adds contrast to uploaded images for web display. That’s why some originally properly exposed, sharp thumbnails and large previews appear too harsh and too sharp. / Printed Photographs are properly exposed and sharpened!

The oldest building of its type in Sheffield, Yorkshire UK. Built around 1500 and the building is now forms part of Meersbrook Park. There is no real evidence that Bishops actually lived there but thats the name that has been passed down the generations… The building really is as crooked as it looks on the left hand side… Find more info here See other photos on my NEW website at www.andyharris-photography.com * Click here to see some of my other Red Bubble categories Fuerteventura / Flowers / Autumn Collection / Paris / Wildlife / HDR / Skies / Clothing

I just couldn’t resist plonking this lovely Red Admiral butterfly I photographed some time ago onto this lovely day-type lily in my next door neighbour’s garden.. ;-)

The weather was really beautiful and ominous on that day. Everytime the sun would peek out I would drop everything and set up my tripod. This is Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierra, Ca and I’m still amazed that I live so close to someting so beautiful. This trail eventually ascends Morgan Pass and up into the alpine High Sierras. You can see them in the far background. Created from 2 exposures blended together.

Red Bishop Euplectes orix Native to Africa introduced to Australia some 55 years ago as caged birds. A colony established itself from released or escaped birds on the Murray River, south of Adelaide but has apparently died out. This was taken at Canberra at the huge walk around aviary there. Flighty little fast moving finch’s that are hard to get a capture of!! More info Here Thank you for looking.

One of my favorite hikes in the Eastern Sierras is through Little Lakes Valley. The trail follows Rock Creek to its source high in the mountains and continues on to connect with other trails. This was taken near the Mosquito Flats Trailhead in late summer. I still caught a few wildflowers in bloom since the valley is so lush.

She is one of the survivors in Rwanda. She lost her parents during the genocide. A mere child herself, she became a parent to her siblings. Letting go of her chance to be a child, a chance of an education, a chance of a happy childhood. Instead she gave that to her siblings. so that they may have a better chance at life, a life that fills with equality and acceptance. / There were many childheaded households in Rwanda post genocide. There were not enough orphanages to house all the orphans. Bishop Alexis founded the Barakabaho foundation that coordinated and assisted these orphans so they might stay with their own families and relatives. Those who did not have any distant relatives were put in different housing facilities. The eldest sibling became the head of the household. Some were as young as 10 years old at the time. Now they are adults and we had the opportunity to meet up and to spend a day with some of these courageous people. We played games with them. The hesitation soon turned to laughter and childlike excitement. On that day they were happy, On that day they had something to eat. On that day, they live for that moment. / Addition: sadly the problem still persists. There are still many family headed by children as the HIV/AIDS epidemic takes its toll.

As a keen rock-climber Mt Bishop has always held a slightly mythical fascination for me. Rock-climbers have named the giant tor on its peak ‘whale rock’ and the thinner of the two cracks on its left hand side has a classic grade 21 rock climb up it called ‘Cachalot’ which was the first significant free climb route completed at the Prom in 1977. I haven’t actually climbed it but some lines are just so bold and perfect that they just seem to capture the imagination. On a purely aesthetic level I find its combination of granite slabs, tors and vegetation very striking and due to its sentinel like presence guarding the road approach to Tidal River, it is a mountain that every Prom visitor is familiar with. For many the sight of it signifies the moment when you know you’ve returned to the magical place that is the Prom. For more shots from this area check out my Wilsons Promontory gallery.
