  • We walked past these two gentlemen as they were passing in the opposite direction, I heard them say something along the lines of “they don’t know what’s happened”, I made nothing of it. My friends and I were laughing amongst ourselves about something or other, it was only when we reached the top of next cliff that we saw the helicopter ambulance and climbers abseiling down the cliff.. I looked back and snapped this shot as they passed over the hill behind us. Photo was taken from Beachy Head looking back towards Birling Gap, Eastbourne, East Sussex, UK. • A late Autumn Afternoon at / Birling Gap / Southdowns / Sussex My left foot got slightly damp in the taking of this Photo. / The view westward along the Seven Sisters Cliffs / Cuckmere Haven can be seen with Seaford Head rising beyond / Panasonic fz50 / /

  • A 3 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro with circular PS filter used Birling Gap is four kilometres west of Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, East Sussex. This part of the coastline is of national geological interest., and has a high rate of cliff erosion. Coastal erosion has already removed the hotel and some of the row of fishing cottages built in 1878. The Seven Sisters cliffs are nearby !

  • The awe inspiring white cliffs of the Southern Coast of England. This is one of the Seven Sisters, a group of cliffs along the coast of Seaford and Eastbourne of the South Downs in East Sussex. The sun was setting, and the orange glow turned them from white to orange. I didn’t have to wait long for the seagulls either, they were quite active and numerous here at this time of day. • A 3 Shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro This is the most extraordinary way of “parking’ a small fishing boat I have seen. As you can see the beach is some drop from the land, and when it is high tide there is not much foreshore left exposed. Sadly the boat has been destroyed by fire !

  • Looking west from Birling Gap along the Seven Sisters / Cuckmere Haven is the low point where the seven sisters cliffs start. The high ground beyond is Seaford Head This part of the coast suffers from coastal erosion as can be seen by the recent landslip, The buildings on the clifftop will probably not survive much longer Birling Gap / Southdowns / Sussex canon powershot s50

  • Floats on the Fishing Boat at Birling Gap.

  • The mist was hitting the cliff face rising up and spilling inland / Birling gap / southdowns / Sussex A recent rockfall has been washed away by the sea / The cliff is massively undercut & a new rock fall will surely happen soon. panasonic fz50

This part of the coastline is of national geological interest., and has a high rate of cliff erosion. Coastal erosion has already removed the hotel and some of the row of fishing cottages built in 1878. Today there is a café/tea room, and steps leading down to the beach and the Seven Sisters cliffs are nearby !

  • A glorious late afternoon in Autumn / Birling Gap / Southdowns / Sussex Looking west along the Seven Sisters towards Cuckmere Haven with the Seaford Head rising in the distance. / /

  • Another version of one of my favourite views / The distant headland is Seaford Head. The cliffs drop dramatically to Hope gap. Some low cliffs bring you to Cuckmere Haven, where the River Cuckmere cuts through the downs to the sea. / From Cuckmere Haven a series of impressive cliffs ( The Seven Sisters) bring you to Birling Gap. The eastern end of the South downs way long distance path starts at Eastbourne & follows the coast to Cuckmere Haven before heading inland to cross the River Cuckmere at Alfriston Birling Gap / Southdowns / Sussex Panasonic fz50

  • Please view LARGE / With a glorious late afternoon sun in the sky, I had to take the scenic route home. / The coastal road via Beachy Head & birling Gap. This Panorama is looking west from just below the beachy head hotel. / The Belle Toute lighthouse which is now a private dwelling can be seen on the hilltop. / Birling Gap is in the dip to the right of the lighthouse. The furthest cliff is Seaford head which lies just west of Cuckmere Haven. / And a typical scene is the south down sheep keeping the downland grass well cropped. / This scene sums up why I love this bit of sussex. / sea, soaring cliffs & rolling hills South Downs National Park / near Beachy Head / Sussex Panasonic fz50

  • Mermaid at the Seven Sisters Birling Gap Sussex UK LOL See Peter:) It’s funny what you find when you go looking for crabs:) Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense.

  • This is the only Fishing boat that operates from Birling Gap in Sussex. After a day’s fishing, the boat is winched up onto the ramp arrangement leaning against the cliff face. / The boat is left suspended on the ramp to keep it clear of the incoming tides.

  • The photographer Image taken at Birling Gap, Beachy Head, Sussex England featuring some of Britain’s most dramatic coastal scenery, can hardly fail to buck you up. While a friend of mine was taken in by some stunning views I see a stunning picture myself which I thought would be apealing to all photographers alike love this image sums our passion for photography up brilliantly !

  • Seven Sisters from Birling Gap: East Sussex, UK. / This family of seven people really helps with the title too. The Seven Sister is the famous English landmark. Camera Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense. At last Birling Gap The place that I originally set out for. However, the few deviations on route were worth it today. Fields of corn and poppys, more fields of hay bales lookin like shredded wheat, stunning views of Seaford and the Old Fort, then onto Seven Sisters Country Park and a bit further I arrived here at Birling Gap a few house later than intended. The sun was hight in the sky, not really much good for photography we’re told. I honestly prefer the very early light of the morning or the light just before sunset, but these white cliffs were a challenge to be appropriate in a balanced way. My Nikon seemed to be handling them quite well from the viewfinder. The light was really too bright to check them in any detail though. As usual, I had to wait until I could see them on the computer to realise the full impact of beauty that had be captured. It’s quite a descent to the beach down some wooden stairs, there’s an old boat propped up against the cliff face (a future pic), but for ages I just stared and soaked up the atmosphere where countless millions have been before me, enjoying, photographing, painting, and dreaming. What a view. I’m definitely going to try and come back in the early hours for magical hours of light in this special place. You Can Also View Similar Works /

  • Seven Sisters from Birling Gap / This boat has been burned. I turned up in the early morning hours and it was still smoking and very hot, it had been cordoned off by the Police. Don’t know how it happened, but all that was left was a pile of ashes. Such a shame… / / / Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense.
