In this composite, I have tried to portray the ‘essence’ of the pelican..the wonderful contrast of a hunter’s bill, with the softness of the feathers… the amazing colour to be found on looking closer, and the overall beauty of a bird who is often shown in a comical way :) I did this some time ago.. and still enjoy dragging it up and looking at it ;)

This pelican mother was sitting on an egg in her nest. As she was alongside a bridge I was able to zoom in on her from directly overhead. A slight crop and orton effect applied.
