  • Red robin sitting on a branch, looking cute. Love little birds like this one. Pencil drawing. Colour and texture added in Photoshop. Texture comes from http://pendlestock.deviantart.com/.

  • Title: Windmill and Birds Photographer: Robin Collins, FourCrowsArt Whispers of color, softly focused, dreams on your walls. This is what I was trying to achieve with this series. It takes a bit of manipulation and process, but the outcome is beautiful. Using the technique “through the viewfinder” this image came through not one but two cameras to become the piece you see.

  • A sketch of two birds having a chat on a cold winters day. You can also wear these friends everywhere you go… /

  • Feathered friends chatting in the wintertime, probably about the worm that’s poked his head out of the ground to see if it’s spring yet!

  • That’s done it !! After the much appreciated responses and comments from yesterday’s Robin shot, I have had to renegotiate modelling fees, LOL. This is my favourite shot so far. Tripod mounted camera, thanks for looking, regards Nick

  • Mr Robin complaining about the great weight on his head, no wonder he needs an aspirin. / Robin Sony H9 090608 untouched / Small Copper Sony H50 / 120808 background removed / Attempt number 2 at blending with PSE7. Butterfly extracted with PSE7 & superimposed on the robin’s head, a totally daft example of photomanipulation. / 031208 / The robin was photographed at Kilburn Road Allotments and the Small Copper on the campus of the University of York. • These are early days in my PhotoShop manipulation journey, but so far it’s been a tremendous adventure. All I can do at present is remove backgrounds and add the extracted part to a new background thus producing a totally ridiculous situation. But it could be real!!!!!!!!!!LOL / Robin: Sony H9 090608 untouched / Dragonfly: Sony H50 background removed, rotated & lightened with dodge tool. / Photoshop Elements 7 / Composite This is almost as much fun as finding things to photograph, and MUCH more fun than domestic stuff. This sky where we live / Is no place to lose your wings. / So love, love, love. / Hafiz حافظ Human beings are members of a whole, / In creation of one essence and soul. / If one member is afflicted with pain, / Other members uneasy will remain. / If you have no sympathy for human pain, / The name of human you cannot retain. / Saadi “Of one Essence is the human race, / thus has Creation put the base; / One Limb impacted is sufficient / For all Others to feel the Mace ” / —Saadi (1184–1283) “There is only one sacred manuscript, the sacred manuscript of Nature, which alone can enlighten the reader.” Hazrat Inayat Khan All profits from my sales will be donated to Butterfly Conservation. • Some of you will know that I’ve been following the progress of these little robins since I spotted the eggs in a nest in our garden shed. And I’ve been stalking them since, much to the bemusement of their mum who I keep disturbing… They are now at the stage that they ask for food whenever they hear any noise which they think might be bringing food… [Sony a350, Sigma 105mm, flash, f:6.3, 1/125, ISO-100, Converted from RAW) Also in the series… Just before taking off alone… / The eggs in the nest / The mum keeping the eggs warm /

  • The Early Bird, a reinterpretation of my photo “The American Robin”, is a vibrant yet subtle look at the American Robin. Shown here in its familiar surroundings marked by a rich palette of Spring greens and complimented by a kaleidoscope of colors, the invigorating morning dew and the smell of freshly cut grass surrounds the Early Bird in her quest to get the worm!
