  • Great tit….... The largest UK tit – green and yellow with a striking glossy black head with white cheeks and a distinctive two-syllable song. It is a woodland bird which has readily adapted to man-made habitats to become a familiar garden visitor. It can be quite aggressive at a birdtable, fighting off smaller tits. In winter it joins with blue tits and others to form roaming flocks which scour gardens and countryside for food. / Where to see them Woodlands, parks and gardens across the UK. Absent only from the Northern and Western Isles of Scotland. / When to see them All year round. / What they eat Insects, seeds and nuts.

  • Since living in France I have been trying every Spring – Summer to capture the Little Blue Butterfly that flits around our garden…we took a walk out on Monday and to my amazement not one but 3 of the little beauties were flitting around – they never seem to rest – then they found water! Not the best photo in the world as we were in the shade at this point – I would of course loved for it to have opened those wings – but I am just happy to have found 3 and captured them at rest for a minute! They are really quite small and I couldn’t get too near as they like all things move too quickly when under threat! Of course I shall carry on my quest to find one with wings open – never say never is my motto….I must admit to just clicking once focused as I didn’t want to lose the chance of capturing it! • A field in Lawton, Oklahoma. May 09 That little white bird in the far right corner (view large) is always with the cows everytime I drive near. Although..these birds do get quite large… Nikon D80

  • This darling little bird simply sat still and let me shoot shot after shot….I simply love the colors and I believe the expression on it’s little face. I am going back to see if I can find it again.

  • a brilliant male cardinal survey the feeding area before coming in to feed. Provide perhes around your feeder to make them more attractive to birds. They like to check the area for cats, dogs, or other predators or sources of danger before coming in.

  • This male cardinal is oh so close to getting his adult pkumage. and he will be a magnificent specimen. He is so proud, with his alert pose, and his tuft raised high. Due to the dark, dreary day, iused an external flash, and I like the results.

  • The adult male is a striking and unmistakable bird. It has a red bill, large white crescent above the eye and reddish face and “whiskers”. The breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, with two orange “sails” at the back. The female is similar to female Wood Duck, with a white eye-ring and stripe running back from the eye, but is paler below, has a small white flank stripe, and a pale tip to its bill.

  • I had been watching a pair of Blue and Yellow McCaws not too long ago. I thought I would try a hand from my sketches. They were so loving with each other. Kissing and preening, full of antics and just beautiful. Created in Photoshop using my natural media brushes with the impressionistic style I love. There were about 6 layers and took me about 7 hours to complete.
