Beautiful pink Flamingos standing together. Taken on a bright sunny day in Singapore, July 2008. Settings and camera – Canon 5D and 100-400mm lens, f8, ISO 200, AV mode, exposure 2 x stops under to darken background and bring out pink in flamingos. Minor cloning to two areas in background to remove green tree spots.

Originally I thought this was an albino peacock…But have done some research and come up with this – “The White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock.” It was a very magestic bird and beautiful to see him fan his tail feathers. Taken in Perth, WA. Taken in Perth WA with a Canon 5D & 100-40mm Canon L Series lens @400mm, 1/320th sec, f5.6 ISO 200. Blue Jay sitting in the Ash tree in my backyard in northeast Iowa. Despcription: Bright blue above with much white and black in the wing and tail; white below; black facial markings; prominent crest. / Voice: Raucous ‘jay-jay’, harsh cries, and a rich variety of other calls. One is almost identical to the scream of the Red-shouldered Hawk. / Habitat: Chiefly oak forest, but now also city parks and suburban yards, especially where oak trees predominate. / Nesting: 4-6 brown-spotted greenish eggs in a coarsely built nest of sticks lined with grass and well concealed in a crotch or forked branch of a tree, often a conifer. / Range: East of the Rockies, from southern Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. /

/ / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /
