  • When you look back on your life, is the best time to remember those experiences that have shaped you, and those who contributed to your life over the years. Learn from them, and those experiences to help make the world a better place as you look forward. A grandpa’s wisdom, and it’s free. Hope you like! • All through the ages pools, lakes, sacred wells and springs have all been invested with magical properties and believed to be the dwelling places of the gods. Water is a universal symbol for the Soul and is represented by different moods and qualities. It can be gentle like rain and as hard as ice. In this painting using wax the Water Bird has arrived, to be refreshed and to return to its real state of purity by washing away the debit of the past. Encaustic wax

  • The defensive Tower house of Smailholm, just over the Scottish border, near Kelso. The tower was built in the mid 1400’s at a time when lawlessness and violent bands of reivers, ravaged the lands both sides of the English-Scottish border. And a solitary white swan, resides below the Tower Even today, the landscape is lonely, and you can easily imagine the starkness of those dark days. Dreary dull, grey, original digital photograph. / Lots of photoshop layers and borrowed sunset from my bonny Northumberland, Budle Bay photo. Inversion and refining with digital painting….. it would have been easier to conventionally paint this!!

  • Well, you may remember this little one from our backyard duck experience this year. He’s so cute I decided to go back and have another look, and came up with this rendition. I used a gradient brush background with lighting effects added to highlight the duck. I used the orton effect on the duck to make him soft. Everybody needs some lovin’, don’t they? Hope you like! • Another of the beautiful features of Noosa Heads, is Weyba Creek and Lake Weyba. Just before the Noosa River exits to the Pacific Ocean, there is a offshoot called Weyba Creek. This feeds from Lake Weyba, nestled in the Noosa National Park area, Queensland, Australia. These river systems are all part of the Noosa Biosphere, and are home to many species of bird and animal life. Much of it, untouched by man, which is the way is should stay… Canon 50D, 16mm, 5:00pm. Available Large and best viewed Large! :)

  • THE SUBJECT: / A juvenile Ardea alba (Great Egret) steps slowly and purposefully through the shallows hunting for a meal. THE LOCATION: / Photographed at Lake Cathie, NSW, Australia on a great winter day. THE MAKING OF ‘Pride’: / On a return visit to this out-of-the-way part of the lake I stalked this youngster as it looked for lunch while I was partially screened by trees along the lake edge. / Due to the conditions I was able to make an exposure aimed at a B&W result but had no idea it would turn out as good as it has. / I have printed this on Ilford Galerie Smooth High Gloss Media and so far it has not developed any colour cast. Fingers crossed! / Fuji S9600: RAW, Manual settings of f/4.9 @ 1/500sec, Auto focus, ISO80, Hand held. / Lightroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS3.
