  • 8”x10” acrylic on canvas. “A sound is heard, soft but true, inside her little heart / and a message given by an angel sets this girl apart. / The oceans she knows and the pearls she will carry / make the enigmas unveiled to her a little less than scary. Leave this mess / if it is no longer mine / I’ll pray for ever and ever / I’ll hold faith till the end of time” Lyrics I just wrote to go along with this piece. Now I need to go write the music :) The original painting is available. bryandrinkscoffee.com www.bryandrinkscoffee.com

  • Back to the local park, and out of the blue the same Pileated Woodpecker I got some shots of a few weeks ago, returned for yet another photo shoot. This time he was about 20 yards from me, and easily stayed for 10 minutes or so. Needless to say, he was easy prey with the D200 and Sigma 50-500mm lens. I love the pieces of bark flying around as he was looking for breakfast. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images

  • I’ve been experimenting with overlays and did this one of a male and female bluebird, a pair which I seldom have an opportunity to photograph together. I put the two separate images together and in the words of my good British friend, Jesika, I “fiddled with the twiddly bits” and came up with this version. It reminded me of the line from the “Night Before Christmas” when “visions of sugarplums danced in my head”; hence, the title.

  • This started life as a lot of little boxes drawn on a big sheet of A2 its amazing what a lot of scribbling can end up with!

  • First light at the lake behind the beach at Crescent! Black Swans on their way.

  • This was inspired by the Wallace Stevens poem “The pleasures of merely circulating”, in particular the lines which read: The garden flew round with the angel / The angel flew round with the clouds / And the clouds flew round and the clouds flew round / And the clouds flew round with the clouds

  • For a competition that i don’t know is still operational… PD Images and brushes. / There are a lot more photos in there than meet the eye…

  • A female Northern cardinal lit for a split second, allowing me to take this shot. More wary than most songbirds, the cardinal is skittish and alert and difficult to photograph at close range.

  • Went to go spend the day with Storm, Hank and Shaya today….and as luck would have it… / Hank decided to go for a bath….Oh my gosh…was I lucky or what??? / The white you are seeing in Hank’s eyes is something called a nictitating membrane. This eyelid is transparent, and sweeps across the eye from side to side. It grows in the inner corner of the eye, right next to the tear duct. This is a protection against getting any water, blood, etc in the eye…So all my bath pictures have Hank with his nictitating membrane. Nothing is wrong with his eyes at all…

  • For Bonnie who encouraged me to experiment outside of my comfort circle! The first image was a very bland group of birds and silhouetted bushes taken on a grey gloomy afternoon. I added an additional layer of a vivid sunset and this is the result – thanks for looking :) /

  • Featured in Changing Zoom Lenses – Sep 20th, 2009 The Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is a species of swan, and hence in turn a member of the duck, goose and swan family Anatidae. It is native to much of Europe and Asia, and (as a rare winter visitor) the far north of Africa. It is also an introduced species in North America, Australasia and southern Africa. The name ‘mute’ derives from its being less vocal than other swan species, though it is not always silent. / Mute Swans nest on large mounds that they build with waterside vegetation in shallow water on islands in the middle or at the very edge of a lake. They are monogamous and often reuse the same nest each year, restoring or rebuilding it as needed. Male and female swans share the care of the nest, and once the cygnets are fledged it is not uncommon to see whole families looking for food. They feed on a wide range of vegetation, both submerged aquatic plants which they reach with their long necks, and by grazing on land. / Photographed in Egli’s Sheep Farm property in Minnitaki, Ontario, Canada / Canon XSi with 75-300mm lens, f/7.1, 1/1000sec, ISO-200, focal length 300mm.
