Sauvie Island, situated ten miles north of Portland, Oregon, is an essential part of a wetland system along the Columbia River that’s used by thousands of migratory birds. Winter and spring brings an array of migrant visitors, like Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, and Arctic Terns, in search of rest and food. There are numerous full-time residents, too, like Purple Martins, Orioles and Wood Ducks, any of which may have used this battered old box hanging from its gnarled old Locust during Days Gone By. All proceeds from the sale of this work will be donated to Oregon Trout, a statewide conservation group working to restore freshwater health and habitat through innovation and education.
