  • This is a print of the original piece entitled “I will wait for you here” / It was hand drawn with ink and digitally altered with color and texture. The background is old fabric that was scanned and copied into the print. I absolutely adore this piece. It shoots me right back to fifth grade when my best friend had her dad build us a swing in the woods. I used to swing for hours looking up at the birds…and wait. Im not sure what I was waiting for back then…but it didnt matter, I was happiest there. This print is available for purchase as cards that you can mail to someone you adore (Or more likely, keep for yourself and frame!) and a few prints. You can always view more of my work here: / www.dazeychic.etsy.com Thanks so much for looking! ~Shelli

  • This is a print of one of my “rough” sketches that started out as a tiny doodle in my sketch pad…it turned into something bigger…and I fell in love with it. I just follow my pencil…whatever it does I go with. This was hand drawn and then enhanced digitally to give the piece color. I did not erase my pencil lines because I feel it adds some needed character and personality! I love the green…Im so loving green lately! Anyway, its available for purchase as cards and a canvas print. / Thanks for looking! ~Shelli

  • A captive Bald Eagle from Bald Eagle Days in Rock Island, IL. • Woke up early with the sound of thousands of sea birds flying low over the rented house I was in on Ocracoke Island. Grabbed the camera and took the short ride down to the beach to watch the beautiful spectacle of countless sea birds silhoutted against a golden sunrise. Took some quick hand-held shots with a slow lens and slow film but still enjoy remembering the scene when looking at this picture. Ocracoke Island, a 2.5 hr ferry ride off North Carolina’s Atlantic coastline is a remarkable treasure for a get-away vacation – particularly off-season. All of the 10-12 miles of beach are National Seashore – no houses, motels, condos etc. except in the old village of Ocracoke where Blackbeard the Pirate was hung from the yards by a British officer long ago. Park your car and rent a bike – that’s Ocracoke! Jerry Keenehan / Fall 2005

  • Bleeding love Where are we, what the hell is going on / The dust has only just begun to fall / Closed off from love, spinning round again / We didn’t need the pain, twice or thrice was enough / It was all in vain, time never ceases to pass / We’re frozen in this cycle of destruction Oil marks appear on walls, / where pleasure moments hung before / Sweeping insanity, sweeping insanity / Oh the insensitivity Something happened on the way, we lost our way / There was a very first time with us, we tasted the displeasure / The bile of unhappy endings and scorched earth policies / We let our hearts melt, / disappearing into the very ground we tread upon / We lost what was true, found something false to replace it / People get ready, there’s a train a coming / And everyone’s looking round, / but we no longer know who is going crazy / I know I’m going crazy Few are bold to say without care for circumstance / I don’t care what they say, I am still in love with you / Torturous souls that love the very thing that makes them sad / They try to pull us away, but they don’t know the truth / Our heart’s are crippled by the vein they keep on closing / They cut us open, and we keep bleeding / We just keep bleeding love We tried hard not to hear, but they talk so loud / Their pandering and propaganda piercing our ears / Question and they try to fill us with doubt / Our goal is to keep me from falling Nothing in this world is greater than the rush that comes / with our patriotic embrace / In this world of loneliness we must cease to lose face / Now everyone around us is going crazy, maybe, maybe It’s draining our history, it’s draining our souls / They find it hard to believe that we pity them / It is all of us who will be wearing these scars / For everyone to see Taken w/Nikon D2Xs + Nikkor 300/2.8 AFS VR

  • Oils on canvas (10×12 inches) (commissioned – sold) The Peregrine Falcon is often stated to be the fastest animal on the planet in its hunting dive, the stoop, which involves soaring to a great height and then diving steeply at speeds commonly said to be over 322 km/h (200 mph), and hitting one wing of its prey so as not to harm itself on impact. The Peregrine Falcon hunts at dawn and dusk, when prey are most active, but in cities also nocturnally, particularly during migration periods when hunting at night may become prevalent. It requires open space in order to hunt, and therefore often hunts over open water, marshes, valleys, fields and tundra. It searches for prey either from a high perch or from the air. Once prey is spotted, it begins its stoop, folding back the tail and wings, with feet tucked. The Peregrine Falcon became an endangered species because of the use of pesticides, especially DDT during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Pesticide biomagnification interfered with reproduction, thinning eggshells and reducing the number of eggs that survived to hatching. The organochlorine build-up in the falcon’s fat tissues would result in less calcium in the eggshells, leading to flimsier, more fragile eggs. In several parts of the world, such as the eastern USA and Belgium, this species became extinct as a result. Peregrine eggs and chicks are often targeted by black marketeers and unscrupulous egg collectors, so it is normal practice not to publicize unprotected nest locations. The Peregrine Falcon was used in falconry for more than 3,000 years, beginning with nomads in central Asia.] Due to its ability to dive at high speeds, it was highly sought-after and generally used by experienced falconers. Peregrine Falcons are also occasionally used to scare away birds at airports to reduce the risk of bird-plane strikes, improving air-traffic safety. / (wikipedia)
