  • “Seabird In Flight” is about the form of a bird’s airborne movement in relationship with the harmonious contours of the overall landscape. The bird itself becomes a natural part of the world that it resides in. . . CHUNKIE Pirate is made from plasticine/clay…...the boat is an origami brown paper boat I made from a template I found on the internet, and then I’ve coloured it in photoshop, applying stripes!!! The birds, palms, seastar and coloured stones are all taken from original paintings, one of the flags is made from plasticine and the other flag taken from a painting, other bits were created digitally, such as the sky…and the sand is a page from an ancient book i have in my bookcase at home…the pirate has a real earring made from pure silver and the anchor is black plasticine attached to the boat “The Seven Seas” with a silver ball chain…..he comes to you with open arms and hopes to brighten your day with his salty yarns from the high seas!! Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

  • A young couple enjoy the company of the Pelican’s flyng in for the daily 12pm feed from the Fisherman at Phillip Island in Victoria,Australia.

  • One day my sister asked me for some pictures of pigeons for a friend of hers. Why… don’t ask. We come across these birds everywhere, and most people find them a nuisance. But after I took the pictures, I realized that they have a lot more color to them. Also because they do not spook easily, I could get rather close. Pigeons have red legs? who would have of thunk? Title reference .. Burt, from Sesame Street, had a pet pigeon named Bernice..

  • A seagull flys low over an ocean beach with waves crashing on the shore behind it.

  • Bird gives an interesting over the shoulder glance as I take a picture .

  • Blackbird strutting in the sun on the riverbank.

  • sandpipers in flight at Bandon Oregon USA / Nikon D 50 Sigma 300mm zoom

  • 2010 Jan 1st. Should it be an omen that for the first time in 44 years that the bay I live by has iced over? The waves creak and grind against the shore where once the water splashed and trickled. Forever more my memories go to that first day of the year.

  • He had such a bow wave in front of him because he was ‘charging’ towards another swan who got to close.

  • The male swan that stays around the pier outside. He Is very protective of his mate.

  • There is sheets of ice laying over the seaweed after the tide went out. Gotcha didn’t I lol

  • This image was taken in the summer at Long Beach Island (LBI) New Jersey. Seagulls can be quite amusing if you watch their antics for a while.
