  • Playing around in Photoshop with a photo of a falcon (I think) flying across the sun and into the dark clouds. The original image always looked ominous, this even more so to me.

  • Pick the caption: suggest a funny statement for the bird on the right. update….here’s what it really is… / This is actually two separate shots of the same female Calytpe Anna hummingbird in two different positions. I layered each shot over each other, mirrored one image, aligned the bar, masked & blended each layer to expose the bottom layer and merged them into one image to give the appearance of two separate hummingbirds together.

  • a personal favourite which I just reworked.

  • A modern version of the “Three china ducks on the wall” for those of us old enough to remember when every other house had them! The original image was cut from a B&W nude lady, duplicated and transformed (many times) then coloured with gradient mapping. All in Photoshop.

  • My digital photoshop art: the source was my picture of “lights in a dutch train” also in my portfolio!

  • The original pen and ink sketch my wife and I used a few years ago as our holiday greeting card. Then, I hand colored each card’s Cardinal. / Now, I put the sketch into Photoshop, first to size it to a RB card format. For this card I made the artistic decision that the trimming that occurs making it into a RB card does not effect the quality of this design, so other than sizing it correctly (920px by 1320px) I made no other trim compensations. While it was in PS I also made a few adjustments besides ‘painting’ the Cardinal. I like this version so much better than the original. / The original background was white, but in PS I changed to the black. For me this also was a positive image improvement. It also alluded to another ‘seasonal’ meaning. I seem to notice cardinals returning to Southern Arizona as the weather gets cooler. So the dark background points to the time of year, the Winter Solstice. The shortest day and longest night in the northern hemisphere. / To me that makes this card a wonderful seasonal greeting card, without any of the frequent over wrought sentimentality of so many cards at this ‘winter’ time of year. / Of course, this work is experimental! Drawn in my Canson sketch book. AND, as seemly always these days, I’ve stayed up late into the night, as if insomnia has become a habit. ; – )))
