Scratch, our Siamese, photographed with what would on a normal day be his dinner. Birds were shot at a local pet store and added in Photoshop. As the birds were photoraphed in cages, the bars they were behind had to be cloned out, and this took a lot of time and patience. Addition of shadows and direction of lighting effects were important factors to getting the image to look realistic. 5169 views… 9 November 2009

OK pirate fans, here’s a lassie to shiver your timbers. She’s ditched the parrot in favour of a raven, she’s kept the traditional tattoo and she’s donned a tight little dress that’s sure to keep her crew on their toes. ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... Acrylic On Canvas Ophelia,Phoebe and Mel having fun on the elephant’s back….and elephant was pleased to have their company as well! :D This was painted in May’08 and I remembered I had a yearning to want to visit Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand :D..so that was why I painted these 3 friends having an outing with the elephant….because there are many elephant reserves there in Chiang Mai, where they protect these precious animals from harm. I was glad to be able to go on that trip in June’08 this year! :D / / You can view and buy my other “On A Giant’s Back” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

I was looking through Sally Omar’s ‘I love birds’ group, all the wonderful images and thought it was time to pay respects to a beautiful bird that lived with us for a short while…i have written a journal as the story was too long for here. Lorraine is on the left, the girls are less colourful in the birdy world!!! this shot is a composite, the background is mylor in the adelaide hills, where we live. the image of the birds was taken from inside their flight cage when we lived in woodville west ( a suburb near the city of Adelaide). it was my favorite image of the birds but the location was very distracting. Amazing what you can do in cs3. ..christopher xx
Lucky passed away this morning. I still think picking him up from the school oval was the right thing to do, better he die in someones lap than alone and at the mercy of the predator birds. He could have made it so i still think its always worth rescuing than leaving. Thank you for all the wonderful encouraging comments on this post.. Yesterday i wrote…. I was driving home today from work and a woman stopped in time to let a small ball of feathers run out from under her wheels. she tried to catch it, but it ran onto the school oval with ravens at 200 meters away – eeek! There were no parent birds around for this baby native wood duck, the ravens would have got him/her in one swoop! Lucky was so vulnerable out there on the oval with predators and no protection, so i picked it up and took it home – our first duckling rescue!

This is the last photo I had taken of Ben before his unfortunate accident. Ben was a Blue Indian Ringneck Parrot and was a very dear friend. This is my first attempt at using Photoshop CS4 so I would like any comments or suggestions you may have to help me improve.
