Red robin sitting on a branch, looking cute. Love little birds like this one. Pencil drawing. Colour and texture added in Photoshop. Texture comes from http://pendlestock.deviantart.com/.
I’ve finally got around to making this one into a tee :) Will try to make some more of my drawings into tees soon, suggestions on which ones are more then welcome! / Zoom in for full effect. This illustration was published in the 2007 Semi-Permanent book, yay! Also looks hot on colour
OK pirate fans, here’s a lassie to shiver your timbers. She’s ditched the parrot in favour of a raven, she’s kept the traditional tattoo and she’s donned a tight little dress that’s sure to keep her crew on their toes. ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... Lily loves birds, but you already guessed that, right? These are three of her darling bluebird friends, helping her with her hair. Actually two of them are helping and one is having a little rest (lazy bugger). ..................................♥ the fine print ♥…................................ If these birds have just eaten, things could get pretty messy. (Did I just make a poop joke? Have I sunk so low? A poop joke? Seriously?)
Feathered friends chatting in the wintertime, probably about the worm that’s poked his head out of the ground to see if it’s spring yet!

Hand drawn and rendered… Saint Death (also known as La Santísima Muerte, and Doña Sebastiana), is a religious figure who receives petitions for love, luck, and protection. Although the Catholic Church has attacked the worship of Saint Death as a pagan tradition, many people insist on praying to this figure for miracles. Those who pray to this figure are often seeking the recovery of health, stolen items, or kidnapped family members. Saint Death is often depicted as a female figure, dressed as a grim reaper with a scythe and scales; also she can be dressed in a long white satin gown and a golden crown. In this form, many devotees view her as a variation of the Virgin Mary. / Some believe the cult of Saint Death originated from ancient witchcraft; however, Saint Death may have his/her roots in pre-Christian beliefs of the Aztec Native Americans who worshiped a similar figure by the name of Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, along with his wife, Mictecacihuatl. The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage. Family and friends gather to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died. Many people believe that during the Day of the Dead, it is easier for the souls of the departed to visit the living. During the period most people visit the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried and decorate their graves with ofrendas, or offerings, often including orange marigolds called “cempasúchitl” (now usually called “Flor de Muerto” (“Flower of the Dead”)). These flowers are thought to attract souls of the dead to the offerings. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull (colloquially called calavera), which celebrants represent in masks, and foods such as sugar skulls, which are inscribed with the name of the recipient on the forehead. Sugar skulls are gifts that can be given to both the living and the dead. Some people believe that possessing “dia de los muertos” items can bring good luck. Many people get tattoos or have dolls of the dead to carry with them. The artist recommends a lighter colour tee for maximum detail. A darker tee will hide the black line work.
Sure, the bird was interesting, but he really should have paid more attention to what was coming up behind him. Unfortunately for Willie “The Birdman” Whiters, it would be the last mistake he would ever make. I just finished this one up last night. Overall, I’m fairly pleased with it.

pencil on paper (Stonehenge) drawing – image size 14.5” diameter circle – ORIGINAL SOLD So this is a take-off on that game of what force is stronger than the other, but it’s also a little play on those words. This is my wish – perhaps naive of me – that love is the force greater than all the darkness. His/her little face makes me happy. That’s enough. Since this is a circular image, it doesn’t lend itself well to a greeting card in full, but if you visit the detailed entry of it, it works really nicely that way. Here are some examples of some of the things available in full image: / Signed and numbered limited-edition prints are available at cynthia’s store
Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 10×8 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul One of the Greek myths I adore the most, for its incredible strength, poetry and significance, is the myth of Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone was the goddess of the underworld and of the Spring growth. Daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, she was abducted by Hades and taken to the land of the dead. By a determination of the Fates, she was forced to stay for two seasons each year after eating pomegranates seeds, thus becoming consort of Hades and queen of the underworld. This time I opted by depicting her sorrow and solitude after having the seeds, although there’s quite an air of resignation with her destiny.

Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 Model: Kambriel One of my latest passions is the symbolism of the peacock, and how it has been associated to immortality and renewal. His feathers were used as talismans and protection against evil spirits. In the Eastern traditions it has been seen as symbols of wisdom, benevolence, compassion and kind-heartedness. The “eye” in the peacock feather is associated to the pineal gland, making of it a sacred symbol. Through the development of the pineal gland one can awake the Kundalini and achieve understanding of the spiritual world.
Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 The heart has a voice and a music, the same ones your spirit have recognized for many ages. The voice of your heart is the voice of freedom. Through it you’ll be able to find yourself and find your inner God. Let that voice be heard, recognize yourself as the creator of your own reality. Put aside all the masks they have made you wear in order to belong to the illusions they created. Don’t waste your life living them. Be what you are born to be.
Mixed Media (Watercolor, gouache, graphite and colored pencil) on board, / 9×12 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul Illustration for a brief moment in the wonderful Tennyson’s poem “The Lady of Shalott”.
Autumn 2009 – pencil on paper This was created using 2,4 and 5B’s (that acted like H’s) on a non-marked cotton rag paper that acted like a cranky toddler. 8.6” high x 11.75” wide This is the very naughty paper I bemoaned a while back. / I really wish I knew the name of it so to avoid it at all costs the rest of my life. But anyway, enough of my moaning, it’s done. This was a hard one to title. I really couldn’t figure out WHY I was drawing it in the first place. I started out a few months ago making it very large – 30” across, but that’s when I had a fit and tore the paper in half. The catholic in me had to find redemption so I took a little bit of it and decided to try it again. The image wouldn’t leave me alone. It was strange though – it didn’t want to title itself. It typically shows up close to the finish, but even just a few days ago, it was not here. Humpf. A few tried to flirt with me. Didn’t work. I thought I’ll just let it rest. Until yesterday, when life and it collided. A friend sent me that quintessential Anais Nin poem for other reasons and I knew that I must take the first portion of it for my title.. And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin / US (French-born) author & diarist (1903 – 1977) ......................................................................................................... And suddenly, it all made perfect sense. So bloom my dears, bloom… / (smile) (I’m very happy to report that a slightly cropped version of this was included (and sold) in the Australian Mirrors Art Exhibition) The Anderson Arts Center where the framed original made its debut… / This drawing will be at the booth of Marion Harris at the upcoming Outsider Art Fair this coming February in New York.
