  • Met these two chaps on a dreadfully cold day in the Cotswolds on my last trip to England. No idea on the species but they sure do look a pair of characters. UPDATE: Finally got around to discovering the origin of these funny fellows. Seems they are used to warmer weather ...... Brazillian weather in fact. This is the Guira Cuckoo. One of the most common birds found in Bazil. They usually look much smoother than this so I can only assume that I caught this likely looking pair when they were puffed up against the cold. regards, Graham

  • This photograph goes back to my ‘old’ film days. The film , in this case, was Tri-x rated at ISO-400. I spent several weekends ‘stalking’ this lovely lady. She would be in the park every Sunday spending most of her time feeding the pigeons. Finally, after several attempts I found the one frame which satisfied me. It’s a world in microcosm. This photograph also took honorable mention in the 27th Annual Photography Contest in the spring of ‘07 by Serbin Publications who publish Photographer’s Forum Magazine. What helps to make it noteworthy is that this photograph had to ‘climb’ over more than 20,000 entries to get into the top 100 to be considered for placement.

  • Another set of emu tracks heading through the dunes, Canunda National Park, Millicent, South Australia. A pristine area where these birds roam free leaving just their footprints.

Hand held using an on camera high speed sync flash to overcome the dark lighting conditions.

  • I think this is the first time I was able to get as close as I was to this beautiful fellow. I was so pleased when I uploaded it onto the computer and saw the results. Believe me this has had selective colouring on the shot it is just that the owl is mainly white. The original shot was taken in The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park in Cornwall. I have been playing about with it again; a crop here to focus tight on his beautiful eyes and selective colouring there and this is the result which I love. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing. The selective colouring was made in Photoshop Elements 6 NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/9 / Exposure time 1/500 sec / ISO speed 100 / Aperture priority / Focal length 190 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens All the materials contained may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my permission. • Originally I thought this was an albino peacock…But have done some research and come up with this – “The White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock.” It was a very magestic bird and beautiful to see him fan his tail feathers.
