I know that in an artistic sense this is quite simple, however to me it has great meaning. The image is of my two boys who are also the best of friends. They have an unbreakable bond and here, they are doing something they love; just being together.

This scenic pic is a combination of shots. A composite of four shots. All shots were taken in northern California with my Canon Rebel XT, EOS. My husband loves to feed the birds, and other critters along the coast line. I took shots of him feeding the birds, and I love to take shots of sunsets over the coast. The west coast sunsets are some of the best. I turned it BW and love it best in BW. He loves to stop at sunset for a break so I can shoot, early morning and sunset are my favorite times to shoot.

A turbulent year, reflected by storm , / with power, excitement and pain. / With coolness refreshing, like breezes in summer. / With tears like the sweet fall of rain. The winds carrying scents of some interesting place, / bring sand grains to prickle the skin of my face. / So has the year gone. The exquisite pleasure, / shining like lightning; a transient treasure, / now lost in the grey cloak’ed clouds.

While on a fishing trip in Florida this pelican followed our boat the whole way. We would toss fish in the air and he would catch every single one.

Coastal Mantra Series- Flying Meditation has been nominated for the prestigious Pay it Forward Group by Kellie Cranmer of Kcranmer Art Kellies quote to the group in submitting this image was: ”I chose this image because of the simple beauty it brings. Sometimes you can get the best impact by a bird flying…as nature would intend it to do…and Lina captured it so beautifully!! Also…Lina is one amazing soul. / Nikon D60~ 55/200 / Mexico Jan/2009 Snowy Egret / Egretta thula / Length: 22 to 26 inches Wingspan: 46 inches Seasonality: Summer / Migrant / ID Keys: Black legs with contrasting yellow feet, black bill, all white plumage The elegant snowy egret was killed by the thousands in the 1800’s for its long, lacy breeding plumage, which was used for women’s hats and other clothing. It has recovered both in range and numbers since that time. Of the white egrets found in South Dakota, the Snowy Egret can be identified by its size (smaller than the Great Egret), it’s yellow feet contrasting with black legs. See the Identification Tips page for differentiating among the white Egrets and Herons in the state. Habitat: Prefers large sloughs or marshes, sometimes edges of ponds or lakes. / Diet: Varies, but includes fish, crustaceans, insects, frogs, lizards, snakes, rodents, snails, and worms. / Behavior: Uses a variety of foraging techniques. They will often actively wade through shallow waters, chasing prey that is startled by the movement. They will also stand still in shallow water, waiting for prey to approach. Snowy Egrets will also forage on dry land, usually in search of insects. / Nesting: June and July / Breeding Map: Breeding bird survey map / Song: Generally silent / Migration: Birds in the interior of the country migrate to U.S. coastal areas, Mexico, and Central America in the fall. / Similar Species: Cattle Egret, Great Egret, immature Little Blue Heron. See Identification Tips for differentiating between these species. / Conservation Status: Expanding range to the north and increasing population in recent decades. Numbers are still far below historical levels, however. 1520 views as of 11-09 as required I write here by the 500+ group.

Puffins are such wonderful characters and you can’t help but see the funny side when viewing their antics. This was an image which I took whilst watching a group of puffins on the Farn Islands a few years ago. There are so many captions which could fit this image…why not have a go when you leave your comment. ;-))
