I’ve been experimenting with overlays and did this one of a male and female bluebird, a pair which I seldom have an opportunity to photograph together. I put the two separate images together and in the words of my good British friend, Jesika, I “fiddled with the twiddly bits” and came up with this version. It reminded me of the line from the “Night Before Christmas” when “visions of sugarplums danced in my head”; hence, the title.

...anything to get at least a head shot of this beautiful bird! This is my last shot of the free roaming peacock who had been tantalisingly difficult to capture as I watched entranced whilst he preened high up in a tree before flying down onto this wall. Taken early one morning in the remote scottish knoydart peninsula…more info on this remarkable place to follow elsewhere… Most of the shots caught his head firmly tucked under his wing .. (see comment below) / / but see also / bird in a tree / / and / bird on a wall / For other pics captured in this stunning area click below knoydart

Wild shy pelican / Perth / Western Australia Just remined me of the schools dances etc as a kid, when I girl I adored, was headed towards me I would sort of not notice and tried to make myself invisable. The butterflies would invade my stomach, my knees would go weak and when she said hello…............... I melted lol. I still do lol.

Another one of those moments, when you hang out at the local park, expect to see not much at all and then walk away with an image like this. I love the contrast of the Pileated Woodpecker against the green foliage. / Taken with the D200 and Sigma 50-500mm lens. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images

Back to the local park, and out of the blue the same Pileated Woodpecker I got some shots of a few weeks ago, returned for yet another photo shoot. This time he was about 20 yards from me, and easily stayed for 10 minutes or so. Needless to say, he was easy prey with the D200 and Sigma 50-500mm lens. I love the pieces of bark flying around as he was looking for breakfast. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images
