  • Photographed this red tail hawk on my daily photo shoot in the woods. Ft Pierce Florida

  • Same bird as in “So Proud” He posed for me for at least 10 minutes until he got spooked and flew off. He had no problems with me being so close to him. I got lucky!!

  • Redtail Hawk Canon 20D, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, tripod

  • I think this is a Ferruginous Hawk, but I would be happy if any bird expert could correct me if I am wrong. He’s a handsome fellow whatever, don’t you think?

  • Young osprey vents his feelings after naturalists returned him to the nest upon being banded. Patuxent River Park, Patuxent River, Maryland.

  • I was shooting the hawk on the left as it perched on a tall post when the second hawk exploded out of the sky, literally scaring the crap out of the other bird. Look closely – you can see it dropping! The second bird claimed the prime perch for itself for a few moments, and then flew off. Tsala Apopka Lake, Hernando, in central Florida, USA. (I was told by a local that they are Marsh Hawks, but they may be Red Shouldered.) Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 (10MP/12x Leica lens). Photoshop confession: There was a radio antenna intruding into the frame. Since the background is so plain, it was easy to mask it out. Other than that, the shot is exactly as it happened. Also available with the poop digitally removed! :-)

  • My last work of art created in 2008. This piece is about wholeness and integrating the dark parts of ourselves into the light of oneness in Christ. It is finished! Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. ~Romans 12:21 Photomanipulation created in Photoshop CS2. • Multiple images to make this. I wanted to show the flight motion of the Red-Tail Hawk.

  • The Galápagos Hawk (Buteo galapagoensis) is a large hawk endemic to the Galápagos Islands. Known for its fearlessness towards humans and authority over the islands as the only original predator, this bird has inhabited the Galápagos archipelago for over 300,000 years. I was lucky enough to see this fellow just sitting on a rock, with the Pacific ocean in the background.

  • Juvenile Harris Hawk courtesy of the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia. These birds range from the desert southwest of the United States down to Chile and Argentina. They are very fast and highly maneuverable. Rabbits, even given a substantial headstart, are not likely to escape. One of the most interesting facts about these birds is they are among the only raptors to hunt in groups. In such a group, they have been known to take down jackrabbits… however jackrabbits have also been known to kill the hawks. Canon 50D, Canon 300mm f/4L, Gitzo 3530 tripod with Kirk BH-1 ballhead, flash.

  • Ferruginous Hawk close up. Taken at the ASDM

  • I loved this old tree, so I used it for this image. I added a layer of reddish bark from a pine tree for texture. I cut out the hawk from another photo and added him to the image. I erased out certain parts of the tree. I liked the feeling the tree had released the hawk to fly free for his hunting expedition. / —-—-—-—-—— / Photos taken with a Nikon D300, 70-300 mm lens. All photos were taken in Montana. The tree and the hawk, near Cascade, Montana, and the bark from a tree near Wolf Creek. 10/09 / Thank you! / 10/09 / Thank you!

  • Pastel of one of my photos of a hawk / Dawn’s website / /

  • This is the design I used for a t-shirt I posted yesterday. Someone expressed interest in a print of this design, so here it is! :) Enjoy! Mixed media; an original collage I did then altered and enhanced digitally.

  • Saluki / Photoshop, pencil sketch & Art Rage2.5

  • Harris Hawk (parabuteo unicinctus) also known as a Dusky Hawk or Bay Winged Hawk. Canon EOS 50D with Canon EF 400mm L f/5.6

  • Featured in “For the love of Canon” December 2009 A Peregrine Falcon can reach speeds of over 200 mph in a dive, making it the fastest animal in the world. Photographed near Parksville, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Canon 40D / 1/125sec f8 ISO 400

  • This male Harris’ hawk was being shown in the Children’s Corner of the 39th annual La Fiesta de Tumacacori in Tumacacori, Arizona. It had been injured and is in the care of a wildlife rehabilitator. Harris’ hawks live and hunt in groups, the only raptor that does. Photographed with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28.
