Former Louisiana Governor, Jimmy Davis, is just as well known for his song, “You are my Sunshine,” as he is for his role in politics. I love the lyrics of that song, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine; you make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away.” I thought this little goldfinch was a good companion with the lyrics of that song.
This Nightjar is rarely seen but is relatively common along the entire East Coast of Australia. My neighbour is a volunteer wildlife carer for “WIRES” (Wildlife Information Rescue & Education Service Inc.) here in NSW and looked after this lovely bird when it was found with an injured wing. The carers for WIRES do an amazing job and pay out of their own pocket to feed and support the wildlife they look after. If I can, I would like to help these wonderful people by donating the proceeds of the sale of this card to assist them. For more information about NSW Wildlife Information Rescue & Education Service Inc. please visite their website here WIRES For better viewing See it in ” View larger”.

This Golden Canary drawn with a sparkly gel pen on cartridge paper 110gsm. I had a yellow canary as a child (have more than 50 happy memories of him) and this drawing portrays his strident attitude, if not the anatomical features of “Goldie”. / This could also be an illustration for the Chinese tale of “The Golden Bird” (see http://journal.petajinnathandersen.com/2008/06/fairy-tale-fridays-golden-bird.html / for details) / Many thanks to the Doodle Do Group for featuring this work, appreciated / . / / . /

The Robin I will donate 100% of proceeds from the sales of this image to The Wildlife Trusts The UK’s favourite bird – with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights. / Where to see them Across the UK in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens. / When to see them All year round. / What they eat Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.
Had the village fair this afternoon with a Falconry display. This is Samson, a golden eagle originally from Russia. He was stolen from a zoo and found in a wardrobe, basically broken. He has a wingspan of 7ft, a true beauty.

5”x7” This is a handmade card I created with Koh-I-Noor woodless colour pencils, water based ink brush pens, oil pastel and gold metallic ink on Canvas Paper. The eye of the bird is actually a very tiny glass green bead. “Use whatever talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sing the best.” / - Henry Van Dyke Collect the whole series… / You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /
