Acrylic On Canvas Ophelia,Phoebe and Mel having fun on the elephant’s back….and elephant was pleased to have their company as well! :D This was painted in May’08 and I remembered I had a yearning to want to visit Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand :D..so that was why I painted these 3 friends having an outing with the elephant….because there are many elephant reserves there in Chiang Mai, where they protect these precious animals from harm. I was glad to be able to go on that trip in June’08 this year! :D / / You can view and buy my other “On A Giant’s Back” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

from Aesop’s Fables A Rooster was scratching the ground in a farmyard in search of food for himself and his hens, when he happened to turn up a precious stone. “You may be a treasure to your proper owner,” he said, “but for me I would rather have a single barley corn than all the jewels in the world.” Moral: The value of an object is in the eye of the beholder. Ink drawing with digital color, 2006, part of a series This image has been in the top ten of a challenge for colored art in the Finks of Inks group—thanks everyone! This image is one of many story images of birds and animals featured in my calendar Legendary Tales: Myths and Legends
/ CHUNKIE Calendar Series One now available / / Chunkies are a new series of figurines I am working on .. / / CHUNKIE Birthday Fairy / / CHUNKIE Owl / / CHUNKIE Lotus Love on Golden Pond / / CHUNKIE Mermaid / / CHUNKIE Sunshine / / CHUNKIE / Elephant / / CHUNKY Diver / / CHUNKY Indian / / CHUNKIE Surfer / / CHUNKIE Ballerina / / CHUNKIE Geisha / / CHUNKIES in love / / CHUNKIE Hula girl / / CHUNKIE China / / CHUNKIE Lollipop Lover / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Pirate / / CHUNKIE Mod Girl / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy / / CHUNKIE Mother and Child / / CHUNKIE Wedding Next in line is CHUNKIE Forest…Forest is an eco warrior and friendly angel who lives deep in the heart of the forest, she cares deeply for the environment, here she is ready and waiting for any who may stumble near….waiting with a cup of fairtrade tea and offering peace and friendship to all….she is here to remind us of how we must take care with our natural environment for the creatures, the wilderness and the future of our children… Hand crafted from plasticine, her little outfit is made from dried out teabags which were fashioned into a hat and dress….behind her is a background of pandanus dried leaves i picked up near the beach and an assortment of dried leaves and twigs i collected over time, as well, the foreground is made from a beautiful piece of paperbark supplied to me by my father in law who is in his 80’s…who lovingly found and gave it to me, knowing that i collect special things like this…this is the first time i’ve been able to use it….thank you Grandad! The butterfly and birds were taken from my painting “Thoughts and Things” and the white flower is an old plastic earring….the teapot was given to me by my father who knows I collect tiny silver things like this…..from an op shop somewhere, thank you dad! The table is a cork! Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …
A little drawing i did today, there is two different colour versions /
Acrylic On Canvas All the subjects in the forest respect and adore their Guardian, Lady Leah. She loves and cares for the forest like her family and does her constant utmost best to protect this beautiful habitat that is home to thousands of different species, saving them from the ill fate that mankind brings upon them. Early morning light cast a yellow hue across the lawn and thus I grabbed the camera and snap, snap, snap.
This is another small garden of mine with a tree stump for the core of it with a birdbath dish resting on top. What you see here is what I see without the effects outside my window where I sit daily on the computer.
We seek our playmates, / Waking them up from all corners before it is morning. / We call them in bird songs, / Beckon them in nodding branches. / We spread our spell for them in the splendour of clouds. / We laugh at solemn Death / Till he joins in our laughter. / We tear open Time’s purse, / Taking back his plunder from him. / You shall lose your heart to us, O Winter. / It will gleam in the trembling leaves / And break into flowers. - Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) .....sometimes, the simple things please me.
A dream inspired piece / Everything i have will be available in print, you can see my full portfolio at http://xnattyx.daportfolio.com/ or http://xnattyx.deviantart.com/ this is inspired by surreal dreams, i wanted to create a light and fluffy base image but with layers of texture showing the thin film of surreal moments you have within your dream. and the foggier and grungier it gets the more out of reach and less true to life It becomes; but because it’s gradual you believe it. i used birds because of their magical quality and how they are associated with freedom and dandilions to show the breezy flow of how you can be taken away with your dreams.
Butterflies, insects, flowers and hummingbirds inhabit this whimsical garden. Mixed media on green watercolor paper: colored pencils, sharpie pen, markers, metallic paint pens, oil pastels. Original artwork measures 12.5×19 inches. View more of my artwork on my website at http://www.lynnetteshelley.com Also check out Garden II a larger, commissioned artwork based off of “The Garden”. Also check out my Garden Tee!
You will have to take my word for it but this is an image of a female Rufous Hummingbird, Selasphorus rufus, flying in reverse. Hummingbirds are the only birds that can actually fly backwards. Image captured at Vaughn Bay, Washington. /
9×12 pastel on Sennelier la carte paper The third addition to The Bird Maiden series. Each maiden reflects the bird in the artwork and Yellow Bird reflects joy and innocence. / I can’t help but be influenced lately by some of my favorite Red Bubblers like Karin Taylor . I just want to draw all their eyes bigger and bigger! Other works in the series
Some of my little drawings put together on Photoshop / and the tree with leafs i made with Brushes from the wonderful Obsidiandawn /
