This is Grace, and when I first met Grace in April 2007, she was suffering from Chronic Malnutrition. This was taken in December 2007, and the difference is wonderful. been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

Both images taken with the Nikon D40x, tree with the 18-135mm with the polarizing filter attached, the bird was taken with the 55-200mm lens. I love my birdie shots, but they’re all mostly taken on my boring deck … and I loved this beautiful branch shot I took on Sunday, but by itself … eh?? So the logical thing seemed to be to try to combine the two. Once I started thinking about it, this wonderful old hymn immediately popped into my head!! Hope you enjoy!!!
