Three Birds Flying Once in a dream there came to me / Three birds flying, one, two, three. / The first was dark as water on a stone. / The second shone bright as sunlight on a stone, / And the third was gray as a stone, as a stone. / I rode with them as they flew on, / But when I woke the dream was gone. / I set it down on paper and the words are there. I saw this poem somewhere, it was written by a child. Yet i feel it captures the mood so well here. Enjoy.

This is just a little collage I created using two images and several editing features of PhotoImpact11…...As this little Hummingbird sat sipping the sweet nectar of one of my Gladiola blossoms, he seemed so deep in thought as he watched a dragonfly setting on a blossom across from him….perhaps they both shared the same daydream…..if only I had his delicate wings…..if only I had his long graceful beak…...I think this image is what they shared – I think they connected on this spiritual level and I am so glad that I captured the images and had the inspiration to create what popped into my head as I watched both…...I hope you enjoy! / /

The woods is never normal in the dream, but while I’m there it never matters much. Usually, the disappointment is in reaching the end of the forest. Not too much enchantment out there … just the same old world as yesterday. And I still have to pay the bills and do the laundry.

Mixed media collage on recycled layers of old book pages for a “tip-in” page used in altered books. I have used a gold leaf pen to write “dream” on the piece in a couple of places, to outline parts of the statue, to draw a couple of symbols and put my initials SS in the corner. This collage art work has been FEATURED in the “First Things” group. :) A “tip-in page” is a separate work of art that is added or “tipped into” the pages of an altered book. It becomes a part of the altered book by either gluing it into the book, or adhering it some other way such as fanciful clips. Different artists do this in a variety of interesting ways. To find out more about altered books, google the term. I have altered several old books and gave them new life as works of art. They were destined for the trash dump, so I brought them home and altered them. They are an interesting portable portfolio of paintings, collage’ and 3D elements I have added throughout the pages. I added my signature digitally but the collage has not been digitally altered or enhanced in any way.
