I love this shot. The Wife and I were doing the down river canoe ride. I had the long lens and this beautiful bird flew up on a dead tree branch to show his stuff I guess. This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before she realized she wasn’t interested in tulips. / Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, with a Canon 20D. I think this is a juvenile female cardinal, judging from the color of the bill and from her childlike curiosity, hanging around the feeder longer than usual and looking around with intense interest and not a whole lot of nervousness as is evident in more mature birds. A beautiful trusting little girl!

I photographed this majestic blue heron in Point Lobos State Reserve in CA.
