This started life as a photo of a Siver Birch tree with grasses and seed heads growing in front of it, I have coloured, rotated, cropped and created this!.
The low, setting sun and a spot metering on one of these birches made them look like ghosts. / Well, I helped by toning down the bluish sky also. / But why sholdn’t there be ghosts among trees as well? These trees in the marshlands are transformed into / “White Birches” as their shadows fall into reflection on the water’s surface / & the ice and foliage below play their part in this deception….
I wanted to try something just a bit different, so I abstracted this Silver Birch tree, once I finished it I thought perhaps it looked like something out of one of my ghost stories haha
in white and gold / through shades of light / and shadow / this birch skin arc / feels like a wave / caught in a curling crest / rushing its way to shore… more of my macro dreams from my walk this weekend xx
Birch forest naer my parents’ house in north region of Finland.
This painting shows a couple dancing the Finnish Tango in the snow, a common sight through the wintertime in Finland. To enhance the mood, artistic license has kept the band and other dancers out of the picture.
Beautiful reflection in a pond. / Autumn in Victoria, British Columbia / Vancouver Island Canon 400D *PLACED in Top Ten of Challenge, Landscape & Reflections, in Friends of Bangor and North Down Camera Club, Northern Ireland, June 2009)
Leaves in the swamp with the reflection of birch trees. Beauty, fall, season coming to an end and the soon beginning of winter. This time of year has fabulous energy and feel.
Taken this morning. It is my house and my birches :)
One of my birches. Taken this morning. / With a touch of Orton´s. /
I photographed this along the path down to the shoreline of lake Superior. Its beside about 200 steps you have to walk down to get there. A beautiful White Birch forest is on your right and Spiltrock Lighthouse is on your left. It is breathtaking.. Processed as a HDR it would make a beautiful card or picture to hang on any wall.
