  • When the weather conditions are right, the early morning at the moment presents this dreamlike atmosphere on the heath here at Hilversum/The Netherlands when the birch-trees seem to float in the mist. But you have to be out really early to see it. Hilversum, 10th June 2008, 5.29 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 60 mm / F 5, 1/15, ISO 100

  • This forest has two brown birds sitting in two Silver Birch trees. The Silver Birch trees represent prosperous growth and the birds are sharing their knowledge. This painting would be excellent placed in the North-east knowledge sector. It would also be great in a childrens bedroom.

  • It was a pristine autumn evening in early November at Rose Valley Lake, located in north central Pennsylvania. The sky was deep blue and the fall leaves were at their colorful peak. This was my first shot of the day, just before the wind picked up and disturbed the smooth mirror-like surface on the lake. This photo was taken just before sunset with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L telephoto zoom lens @ 154mm. The shutter speed was 1/6th sec at f/32. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome! • Birch leaves in the sun…blowin’ in the wind.

  • This is a quite “corner” of Rose Valley Lake after sunset. I went out to try to capture an autumn image with a nice reflection on the lake’s surface. After waiting for hours for the wind to let up, I decided to head home, when I saw this very interesting scene. The water was very calm and I only had enough space left on my memory card for one last shot. I tried to take a “safety shot”, but the camera was flashing “CF Card FULL”. Fortunately, it was not a problem at all. I was very pleased by the last photo of the day. Rose Valley Lake and the surrounding property is set aside by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the PA Fish and Boat Commission. If our National Parks truly are America’s Best Idea (and they ARE!), then State Parks and State Game Lands are a very close second! These wonderful places are there for our enjoyment, but it is our responsibility to follow all of the rules and regulations to keep them enjoyable for everyone! This photo is “straight from the camera”, untouched by any form of “enhancement”. It was taken just after sunset on Saturday, October 10th, with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera through a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L telephoto zoom lens @ 35mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/10th sec at f/3.5. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome! • I pass some of the most beautiful Pennsylvania farmland on my way to Rose Valley Lake. The late afternoon October sun was shining on this barn and farmhouse in such a way that it virtually forced me to pull over to record this scene! Rose Valley is in Gamble Township, Lycoming County, five miles east of Route 15 at the community of Trout Run, Pa. Take Trout Run Road to Rose Valley Road, where this landscape was captured. The farmers in this area wisely use contour plowing to prevent soil erosion and runoff. This, among other practices, helps to keep the fields productive and the entire valley “green”. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to its longest focal length of 85mm. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/6.7. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome!
