SURF RESCUE by karin taylor / ink pastel acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper / the original aussie lifesaver chick on patrol at her local beach…swim between the flags folks..and right in front of the surf livesavers zincy noses….. My lifesaver chic sports a white onepiece swimsuit rivalling Miss World Australia’s figure….lashings of zinc cream on her nose for sun protection, and a pair of binoculars, really looking the part here…...and also looking pretty chilled, a common trait of most lifesavers on oz beaches :) There is a rubber duckie in the vicinity too…just in case…. i don’t do many skinny chicks, so she’s a bit of a rarity ‘round these parts! lol

Model-Adrian Convinced my son to don leather jacket and used binoculars as prop. Photographed by me. Shadow highlight and colour adjustments in Photoshop. Scanned endpapers from an out-of-print book to use as texture. Layered with the texture i created using multiple modes eg. color burn and multiply and adjusted opacity. Omni lighting in PS using yellow tone. Flattened and created a texture map from the image in Photoshop by duplicating the flattened layer to a new doc then desaturating and saving as a .psd. Applied the .psd via the texture filter in PS at about 100% 11. USM at 100,30 0. Just having fun! /

I must say I was quite fascinating with this story i saw on the The Science Channel yesterday, it was all about the LBT (Large Binocular Telescope) if you can check it out, if it interests you as well. I will say this, i have always dreaded not knowing whats coming space wise, and Hubble to me wasnt good enough frankly, but this LBT can tell us and in advance! No fear now once its up and running in full operational mode. Your average binoculars like: Canon L IS WP (10×42) Binoculars, Yet LBT can see 5000×8400!!! / Just to give you an idea of how accurate these can see, they say they could put a soccer ball out past our own galaxy, and be able to easily read the manufacturers label! This shot was taken at a scenic overlook on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Sept.2008 This little boy was running around the area with his pants falling down, so I snapped this shot during one of the few, short periods of time when he actually stood still. He was trying to get a view of the water, but wasn’t tall enough to see through the view finder. / We all, (including his parents who were standing beside me as I took the photo) got a huge laugh when I showed everyone the picture.
