  • Big Apple
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Taken from top of the Empire State Building, NYC, 10:00 PM. / It was so windy up there I had to jam my lightweight tripod against the wall with my knee to keep everything still.

  • Bird Puss
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Scratch, our Siamese, photographed with what would on a normal day be his dinner. Birds were shot at a local pet store and added in Photoshop. As the birds were photoraphed in cages, the bars they were behind had to be cloned out, and this took a lot of time and patience. Addition of shadows and direction of lighting effects were important factors to getting the image to look realistic.

  • This is probably the last of my kitty pix as I just got bored taking pictures of them once their voices dropped. And that’s probably why they treat me with total indifference these days. In fact, just the other day Scratch finished his water (we don’t give him milk because he never deserves it), looked up at me and said: “SillyBoy… or whatever they call you on that bubble thing… you could have been great if you’d just kept on shooting us…” So I told him I’d shoot him if he didn’t shut up. This is Scratch, from the same shoot as CAT in BW. He’s a pedigree Blue Point and he knows it and has since grown to be a total pain in the butt. Our other Siamese is Pepsi who is a dime a dozen Apple Head and doesn’t know it and is totally OK. But he’s not as photogenic. Such is life. Grin & bear it!

  • Too Precious to Lose
    by Rhana Griffin

    US$4.70–US$125.40

This is a collaborative transatlantic entry between myself and the incredibly talented and totally awesome billyboy in Belgium for RedBubbles Gaia – The Living Planet competition. Now, I’m not a religious person, but I wanted to illustrate by using billyboys Noah’s Ark image that if we dont start taking care of this planet we are living on I truly / believe we will be in for a disaster of biblical proportions. All that is beautiful and wondrous will simply disappear… like so many ephemeral bubbles. We are all interconnected, and we must find our harmony with Gaia, or risk losing it all. Many thanks to billyboy for sharing my vision, and giving so generously of his time, blood, tears and love to bring this vision into glorious life. Concept: Rhana / Background artwork: Billyboy / Art within the bubbles: Rhana / Bubble creation: Billyboy / Design: Rhana / Title Inspiration: Billyboy For those interested in buying the totally hawt tee of this image its now available over at billyboys place. Proceeds from sales of the tee go to the STV Foundation.

  • Justice for All !
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This is the entrance to the Palais de Justice in Brussels, one of the biggest and most imposing buildings in Europe, and the place where you go when you are very, very bad. I’ve been there, but got lost in all the maze of padded courtrooms and archive offices… then slipped out the back door before anyone could find me. Very Kafka. Taken on Kodak T-Max, neg scanned to digital.

  • London (2)
    by KevinH

    US$4.28–US$114.00

thanks to billyboy for giving this image a bit of a makeover in photoshop! check out his portfolio its great! / here’s the original (ive replaced this with the smaller, more proportionate version) The shot itself was taken by my son some time last year (can’t remember when) in london.

  • Kandy Kit
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This is OJ. Alas, no longer with us as he passed away very young. Here his eyes were just changeing color and I thought I’d try to get a pose out of him. Trouble was keeping him awake long enough to get a shot. Seconds after taking this, he slumped down into the jar, deep in little kitty dreamland. It wasn’t even easy getting him out !

  • Ice Girl
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Image started as a portrait of my daughter. Used Photoshop’s chrome filter and layer blend mode effects to get ice effect. Flames from a log fire in Portugal, icicles on head from a Kodak Instamatic shot taken 25 years ago. Detail can be better seen in click to view larger! ... and for anyone who’s interested, this is the original picture… Ice Girl all thawed out as a teenager!

  • Rat Cat
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

One of my favorites. Our kitten, OJ, was shot on the earth filled flower pot. The rat was killed by another cat who dragged it into our house, and I decided to take it’s picture before giving it a proper burial. Used the same Elinchrom studio flash as with the kitten shot, hanging the rat by it’s tail from a tripod. The flowers were crushed and shot separately, and all 3 elements were put together in Photoshop. The idea for the picture came to me when, as I was looking at the original photo of the kitten on the pot, the rat was dragged in… I waited till everyone else went to bed before doing the rat shoot session. Direction of lighting and shadow effects were important to make the collage look realistic.

  • Algarve Dogs
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This house was next to my father-in-law’s place in the Algarve, southern Portugal, and every morning these dogs rested their snouts in these roof windows while taking a snooze. They couldn’t believe I waited almost a week before taking their picture!

  • Boo !!
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

A friend of my daughter. I asked her to flip her head up and snapped the shutter when her hair hit mid-flight! 12 September, 2008… Just got notified that this picture was nominated to be showcased in the Pay It Forward group. It was nominated by Diana Calvario and this is what she had to say about it: “My favorite nomination goes to: Boo! from Billyboy / This face is so expressive it even breaks the silence of a room just from looking at it! I just love it!” Needless to say I am totally chuffed, and as a direct result of this, Diana now has a secured place in heaven as well as in my heart. She’s a very talented artist living in a small country not far from where I live. Please check out her pf… you’ll by happy you did!

  • Pumpkin Lamp
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Inspired by those devices run by the electricity generated from vegetables… this pumpkin generated so much voltage that it burst the bulb! I did this by actually shooting a pellet through the bulb, aimed at a copper foil switch opposite. When the pellet hit the switch, it triggered my flash and so the action of the glass popping was frozen. Electrodes and coiled wire are props, but the bulb was actually lit (wire hidden behind the pumpkin) and I set my exposure for the lit bulb. Nothing done with Photoshop here, just pure fun with film, flash and pellet gun!

  • Growing Pain!
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Me and my daughter Melanie in her teens, battling it out. Took the shot myself with the camera on self timer. Just told her to yell as loud as she could. It was scary how natural this came to her. Raising a daughter, especially through her teens, is about as emotionally draining as it gets. I knew support groups were available, but I opted for the mental scars… time will tell if that was the right path!!

  • Midnight Cocktail
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I actually shot a pellet through the glass, in front of a black paper background, with the camera on timer mode. A home-made switch made with 2 sheets of metal foil triggered the flash when the pellet hit it through the glass, and so the action was frozen. Destroyed 3 glasses to make sure I got at least one good picture, and spent an hour cleaning up the kitchen. The lightning, from a thunderstorm taken out the bedroom window, was added with Photoshop as was the flashpoint above the pepper.

  • Noah's Ark
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

As I’ve been feeling particularly biblical today, thought I’d post this collage I made from 26 photos taken around the Algarve, southern Portugal, including most of the animals from a zoo in the area. Lightning was shot during a storm from my bedroom window. Mountain scene/sky/lighthouse: Cape St. Vincent, Algarve; ship: Protimao harbour; crow: Colorado; driftwood: Sannibel, Florida… and the waterbuffalo were ambiotronic robots from the African River Safari at Disney in Orlando. Human figures on ship were drawn in with Photoshop paint tools. I spent lots of time making sure the lighting on all the elements looked as though coming from the same source… but that rainy Belgian weather has a way of keeping me long hours at the PC… hey, it’s rained for quite a few days now without stop… Uh oh, here we go again. How am I gonna round up all those animals in time…?!

  • Tangerine Dream
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

When self timer counted down to zero, well, just a nano-tad before… I dropped the two tangerines into a water-filled aquarium with blue paper background. Flash triggered as timer ran out. Idea came to me in a very wet dream…

  • Mirror, Mirror...
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Our kitten OJ, gazing into a make-up mirror, watched over by curious cockatoo. Bird was photographed in pet store and added with Photoshop. I had to wait till OJ got totally tired before he’d sit still… in the end I had to snap my fingers to get him to open his eyes.

  • Sinsemilia
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I work in a recording studio and the French reggae group Sinsemilia were posing in a vintage T-Bird in the parking lot. I used Photoshop to put them in the Painted Desert with a couple of crows from the Rocky Mountains and a no-swimming sign from the Florida Everglades. The bumper reflected the cobble stones from the parking lot so I had to clone in some desert floor to make it plausible. The Belgian license plate was changed to spell the title of their album, pronounced too-skon-a (meaning “all we’ve got”) I made it a square format so they could use it for their CD cover, but alas, even though they really dug the picture, they’d already arranged the artwork. Grin & bear it!

  • Algarve Lighthouse
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This is the lighthouse overlooking the sea at Cape St. Vincent in the west Algarve, Portugal. It was mid morning and the mist had just risen off the water to leave an amazing blue sky over another typical day in that part of heaven. No Photoshop work here, but this shot was used as part of my collage / Noah’s Ark And look… no cats!

  • Windows of the Algarve
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This is a Photoshop collage of 21 different photos taken in and around the Algarve in southern Portugal. All the originals were done on film, so scanning the negatives and all the selection work took lots of time, as did making sure the source and quality of lighting was similar on all the elements. The house originally had that many windows and doors, but I made them all different to underline one of the most endearing aspects of the local architecture.

  • Autumn Souls
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

The faces are from various photos and were blended in with layer blend effects in Photoshop so that the textures of the leaves look like they’re following the contours of the faces. Basic picture is a forest floor in autumn.

  • Bag Wash
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I found this going through some pictures a took in the Algarve a while back (on film of course!)... It’s in a small town called Lagoa, whos inhabitants are not necessarily poor, but just awesomely frugal. It amazed me that they actually washed their plastic bags so they could be re-used, even though they got them for free at the supermarkets. Lessons to be learned!

  • What-Not Shelf
    by billyboy

    US$3.42–US$91.20

What-not shelf with collage of extracts from some of my pictures. I originally shot the shelf at a Brussels flea market in black & white.
