  • Living (in mono)
    by Chris White

    US$4.32–US$98.80

With 6277 views 71 favouritings and 3 sales, this is probably by far my most popular image: / I shot it on my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot S80 compact in the main street of Kempsey NSW on a particularly trying road trip for work. It was a lucky shot, I just thought the billboard was a fairly self-reflexive thing to find in a rundown country town, but when this dejected guy limped into the shot it made it into a poignant statement. Having moved on in the equipment and (hopefully) skills aspects of my photographic practice due mainly to the encouragement I received here in the early days, I often look back at this image and see things I could improve with it. One of the assignments for a course I am doing is to convert an RGB image to greyscale. I’ve applied noise reduction, and unsharp mask, then tonal and exposure adjustments in the green channel. After converting to greyscale, I’ve despeckled it a bit and clone stamped out any larger specks that stand out more in greyscale. I’ve also cropped it a bit tighter and increased the resolution by decreasing the image size rather than interpolating. Wow, that was boring. Anyway, please enjoy the new mono version of Living. “You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake…” / / / / / / / /

  • The image has been created as an alternative to the popular and greatly exaggerated theory of global warming and its consequences. Since global warming activists predict a dramatic change of the planet’s surface in the nearest future, the Ice Age Premonition portrays our society in the new Ice Age. / Ice Age – A cold period marked by episodes of extensive glaciations alternating with episodes of relative warmth. Any geologic period during which thick ice sheets cover vast areas of land. Such periods of large-scale glaciations may last several million years and drastically reshape surface features of entire continents. A number of major ice ages have occurred throughout the Earth’s history; the most recent periods were during the Pleistocene Epoch. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth’s past. The last glacial period ended about ten thousand years ago. / Surrealism art prints / Digital art prints / Fantasy digital art wallpapers

  • Squeeze Me
    by Michael J Armijo

    US$4.66–US$106.40

I love looking up at the ever-changing billboards in NYC. You can see a tree added to my composition here—but the Calvin Klein ad really took my breath away. This was taken back in 2004…and now I’m glad I made the moment last. :) Hey…this might make a cool Valentine’s card…or a LOVE ME – LOVE YOU kind of print for someone special. I might have to buy one myself. :)

  • wishful thinking
    by Juilee Pryor

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Life can be pretty black and white sometimes…... This was shot many years ago in the grimy inner city suburb of Newtown while waiting for a train at St Peters Station…... the inner city can be a fairly fraught place to be in sometimes so CityRail kindly placed a lovely billboard of a rainforest ajacent to the platform to sooth the harried traveller…... it advertises nothing but a little bit of wishful thinking and dream beliving…..... and I’m all for that….....:)

  • On the Road to Melbourne
    by Pip Gerard

    US$4.66–US$106.40

When I worked at Pan Macmillan Publishing I could see the Nylex Clock out the window of the 5th floor everyday. All Melbournians know and love the Nylex Clock!! I’m sad that I couldn’t get the top of the nylex clock in the shot but I didn’t have a choice – I still like it for what it is. I really quite like the perspective of being on the road. I’m very much in love with my city of Melbourne. Every time I go into the city I’m entranced by it. This photo was taken while travelling on the citylink. I LOVE MELBOURNE. / .

  • Largest billboard in America, Times Square New York, one city block long. Now gone, building torn down. / My buddy Paul Chan painted the HUGE turbo jet eagle, I did album cover below, the Stone’s “Made In The Shade,” David Bowie in drag in a lawn chair. / The idea was that the album covers would change every week for the Rolling Stones World Tour, suspended by the eagle’s talons. / To get some idea of size, the album cover was made up of about twenty, 4 X 8 foot sheets of masonite. The thing was massive. It took ten days to paint and they called me slow. / I got hired by ArtKraft Strauss Sign Co. because I was good at faces. All male industry, lucky to work indoors. Next job I finally got outdoors, first woman ever. We used cans of pure dry pigment mixed with linseed oil and benzine, Japan drier thrown in to speed it up, everything mixed in place up in the air. Four terrific years covered in paint, got great muscles swinging on ropes, scaffolds, climbing steel framing like a monkey. What a life.

  • Big Apple(s)
    by Douzy

    US$3.99–US$91.20

I was walking around in Brooklyn when I saw this huge ad for Ipods. I thought, hmmm…, they don’t call New York “Big Apple” for nothing! ;) / This looks like selective colouring but it’s not really. I did desaturate the surrounding slightly to bring out the orange but things were alreay very grey due to the industrial architecture and the weather being overcast. / This is Manhattan in the background.
