Even Jesus said JESUS when he saw me ride… / You can just see it now, Jesus and his 12 best mates hanging out at Losail MotoGP track in Qatar, suddenly out of nowhere, you come flying around turn 16 and down the main straight. As you pass the start/finish line on one wheel doing well over 200mph you hear it “Jesus!” / Doesn’t it sound just awesome!

Anyone who has ever ridden or been a pillion a modern sports bike will know that the real fun starts when you hit the corners. But when you’re able to get a lean angle of 45 degrees around a corner, that is when you’re really living! That’s why “Life Begins at 45 Degrees”! Horray for Muscle Bikes! / Real riders don’t need to go and buy the latest fully faired two-wheeled crotch rocket. Who really cares how fast you can go in a straight line?! In honor of Oscars night, a favorite actor / Portrait of Steve McQueen / Water color and ink on paper / From an old photo in a local magazine. McQueen used to do a lot of racing at the nearby Laguna Seca racetrack. Someone got a shot of him just pulling off the goggles, mud and grease on his face, in his leathers, and wearing that / You Want a Piece of This? / look / he did so well and made him so interesting to watch as an actor. Hi This shot was made at a round of the SDA ( scottish downhill accociation ) that was held at Innerliethen, Scotland. Camera Settings >> Exposure Mode >> Manual / Shutter Speed >> 1/320sec Hand held / Aperture >> F/5 / Focal Length >> 135mm Info It was shot in RAW and later converted in Photoshop CS2. Adjustment were levels, curves and colour correction. Sprint! is one image from a series called The Riders that was exhibited at The Centre for Creative Photography in Adelaide (March 2008) and twice in 2009 – at the Epson Gallery at Photographic Wholesalers in Hutt Street, Adelaide and in at the Nexus Gallery in Bellingen NSW as part of the Sibling Rivalry show. The series was shot on Kodak color infrared film. The distinctive colours and grain are characteristic of the film. The motion blur was captured in-camera by using camera panning and slow shutter speeds – ranging between 1/15th and 1/2 second. A 28mm wide angle lens further added to the distortion and impression of speed. The camera was a vintage (early ‘80s) Pentax K1000. Digital manipulation was limited to minor contrast correction and dust removal post scanning.

Although thousands of athletes worldwide compete at an Ironman event each year, the vast majority aim simply to just finish the course if they are first timers, or set a PR (personal record) time if they’ve raced this distance before. The Ironman Triathlon is a grueling event that pushes its participants to the limits of endurance. I completed 3 but could not start my 4th due to injury.
