The largest wooden building in the world houses the Big Buda. In this photo you are looking at a building that is made entirely of wood, no use of metal nails or screws hold it together.
Australia Day, Perth. My title cannot be any more blatant. This shot was taken on the 26th January 2007 (Australia Day). It was a pity I didn’t bring my Sigma 28-300mm lens because it could’ve been so useful taking portraits of others in the crowd. One would call that stalking, but Australia Day is a day which every Australian (be it citizens or refugees) celebrate freedom, independence and humanity. What’s wrong with taking pictures of Australians to just reflect that anyway? :) I was lucky to get this shot. I know many others were too. We had to brace 40C heat to get a good vantage point for the fireworks. Hence the stormy clouds. Magnifique. This is one of the few (decent) shots which I manage to capture. I hope you like it. - – - EDIT: The Australian flag was flown by 2 helicopters. It broke the World Record for biggest Flag ever to be hoisted up the sky. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /
this is not the most fantastic picture but is a memorial to a memory of standing beneath her branches with friends! The Sitka Spruce, a species new to science, was described in detail by Meriwether Lewis on Tuesday, February 4, 1806: / ” there are several species of fir in this neighborhood which I shall describe as well as my slender botanical skill will enable me… grows to immense size; very commonly 27 feet in the girth six feet above the surface of the earth, and in several instances we have found them as much as 36 feet in the girth or 12 feet diameter perfectly solid and entire. they frequently rise to the height of 230 feet, and one hundred and twenty or 30 of that height without a limb.” Modern-day explorers can view a Giant Sitka at Klootchy Creek Park, Oregon. Klootchy Creek Giant – aka the Seaside Spruce- is a Sitka Spruce that stands 216 feet tall, measures 56 feet in circumference and has a crown that spreads 93 feet. That makes if the biggest tree in the State of Oregon and the biggest Sitka Spruce in the Country. The Klootchy giant has been named Oregon’s first Heritage Tree, a program that recognizes trees for their connection to Oregon History. Nation’s Largest Sitka Spruce Dies In Oregon Storm By Joseph Friedrichs, 12-04-07 / / Mourning friends in Oregon. / So just how powerful is the storm currently raging its way across Oregon? Well, among many other means of destruction, it’s strong enough to rip down the nation’s largest Sitka spruce tree. The Oregon Department of Forestry reports that the 206-foot tree in Klootchy Creek County Park, also known as “Klootchy,” has indeed tumbled to its death. According to Paul Ries at ODF, the 700-year-old spruce snapped about 75 feet from the ground. In perhaps the most poignant quote ever, Ries simply says: “The tree will now die.”

/ / Highly adaptable, tigers range from the Siberian taiga, to open grasslands, to tropical mangrove swamps. They are territorial and generally solitary animals, often requiring large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey demands. This, coupled with the fact that they are endemic to some of the more densely populated places on earth, has caused significant conflicts with humans. Of the nine subspecies of modern tiger, three are extinct and the remaining six are classified as endangered, some critically so. The photo of tiger is taken in Bronz Zoo New York.

Kenny Gulley Jr. sent out emails telling us to look to the east as the sun set for the biggest moonrise of the year, so even though I was down and out with a cold, I did as I was told and this is the result. I caught this at dusk, just after it rose over the hillside.

Berlin is “The biggest construction site in the world”... International investors and real estate sharks scent in Berlin big business. The opportunity is unique: Never before has an entire capitol been sold and built again. The prices are rising and rising – but the one billion projects are not making progress. The first speculation is out of money. A wave of bankruptcies threatens… This was a quote from “Spiegel” in 1992… Did something change since then?... Berlin is still a big construction site and we still live in a period of transition... We’ve just became accustomed to it… This photo was taken 2009 in Berlin Mitte, at the bridge near the Museumsinsel (Museum Island)...
