  we all know we love RB, if we didnt we wouldnt be here / we all know we LOVE comments and views on our work / but…when people start having to apologize for not returning comments, exactly what does it mean? has RB gotten so big with so much work added that we cant keep up? or does it mean..the only reason we give a comment is because something is expected in return? i do ask the members of the Shots in the Fog group, instead of worrying about telling me thanks for the comments..find another person in the group and give THEM a comment! Pass It On! i know they appreciate the comments, i dont need them to tell me thanks to confirm it. seeing them passing it on..is a “thanks” enough for me / i know my activity monitor moves 2pages per day, due to my favs on my watchlist adding new works, journals, and writings. / i know for the past 3wks its taken a few hours to just to try to ketchup!! when i could be here. / i comment on a person’s work because that work MOVED Me to comment, not because i expect someone to comment back. yes the return comments are appreciated, but NOT expected. / I add to my watchlist because i LIKE the person’s work!! not because i expect them to add me to their watchlist. / it really bothers me some that are complaining about others being rude, or the threat of..ill remove you if you dont comment back. what is that all about???? / yes we are here to support each other and get our work out. but you must give Everyone the benefit of the doubt, they might not be able to make it onto the site, they are busy with their work as well, who knows, but it shouldnt matter. / so before you comment on a persons’s work..think about what You are expecting from it. are you commenting because the work moved you to comment? or are you expecting something in return? i want EVERYONE to know, who ever has commented and added me to their watchlist, i am very honored my work has moved you enough to do that, i appreciate every comment made. and wish like hell i could return EVERY one of them. / those who have removed me, well im sorry you felt that way, that i didnt meet your “expectations”. crazy me, thought meeting anyone’s expectations would be to upload work that is pleasurable to view, and who knows..buy? so before you go chastising others because they might not be as active as you’re able to be on the site. think about why they arent responding, or maybe they are passing it on? so lets rethink the reason we comment. let it be because work moved you and expect nothing in return. dont let it turn out to be the if you dont comment on every shot, i wont comment. thats how we end up turning into other sites we all have left and RB isnt like ANY other site on the internet, that is what makes it so Awesome so thanks to everyone who has kept me on their watchlist / thanks for all the support and comments / i am honored to call You friends! and i DO plan on catching up!

  / The Big 30…30,000 views!!! WOW! I’m feeling old! LOL! No really, it’s great…no actually it’s fantastic! Thank you to each and every one who has become a part of my life, my views and even my artwork itself. Here are some of my favorite highlights since the last ten thousand miles… The biggest news I probably have to announce is the publishing of my artwork in “Artists of The West” book! It is a true milestone for me and a great personal success. It was an amazing project to be involved in and over a three year journey. I ended up making some great friends and contacts along the way and really bonded with everyone involved in the book. / After the release of the book there was some really exciting events to follow like the first book signing in St. Helens with the official release. / I am also doing a public book signing, autographs and a special unveiling of three of my new paintings at the Astoria Sunday Market later this month. The Astoria Sunday Market / / (Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you’re interested or would like more information on the event) Also I am VERY excited to be a part of the RedBubble Rialto Towers art exhibit ironically also on July 27th the same date of my book signing in Astoria, Oregon! My work First Tree was chosen along with 40 other works of art to show in the foyer of the Rialto Towers for a two week art show! I am honored and thrilled to be showing my work alongside the other amazing artists and my RedBubble friends! I was also a part of some wonderful collaborations My collaboration piece Through The Past To The Future with my friend Michael Gatch was a total success and incredibly fun! It was inspired by his photo Through The Past / We had such a good time we did another one… / Apple Harvest which was inspired by Michael’s photo Old Apple When I looked at this work I saw the tree as the point of life that was celebrated and brought people and family together. I wanted to I take it back in time or to another time perhaps. I also had a fantastic collaboration with my dear friend Paul Hobday / I was really inspired by his photo Twisted and had a vision of what eventually became…The Other Side Of The Fence my newest work. Again THANK YOU to each of you who took the time to view my work, comment on my work and invest into me and my career. My art work is the road in this life that I have chosen to make a living on and really…it is my life. In each painting or drawing I create I try to leave a bit of myself to be shared with another person. / Thank you so much for supporting and embracing me and one of my true loves…art!

  I usually try and wait to see if anything sold appears on the buyers booth so that i can thank the buyer personally – but unfortunately they don’t always appear. So, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to anyone who has bought my work this week (and before of course) and just to let you know how incredibly happy you have made me and i hope they live up to your expectation. I would also like to thank all the RB community for all your wonderful support over the last couple of months – i am having such a good time here and finding it such an inspirational place to be.

HERE IS MY EXPERIENCE TODAY… I did not see his home page until this morning, Monday is the mornings I spend with my partner Terilee or Terri of aspectsof tmk (for coffee talk) and am dedicated to group work and catching up with all the notices about YOU>! / I love my Mondays because I love RB and RB is YOU. Today however I got a BM from Erhan. About something in a few hours.. but I was gone and that mail came 17 hours ago! I decided by the nature of his letter to go to his home site…....Erhans Home Site here you find categories of links to his friends on RB and a host of Dedications to many like…. Honor Book dedicated to all his active groups he loves or Honor Gifts where he has posted all the gifts from others to him.. / or there is the list of those he admires in their work.. SHOTS AND MASTERS UNTOCHED A GORGEOUS COLLECTION! AND SHOTS AND MASTERS B&W / WHAT A LIST OF ‘MASTERS’ HE HAS ASSEMBLED! SHOTS AND MASTERS PAINT OR TREATED / Good God! I am among them.. I am floored!   For those of you with Photoshop, here’s a simple tutorial for resizing images for print in Photoshop. Much to my surprise, I discovered that Photoshop (CS2 is what I use) has a wizard for resizing images to print – something I had not seen before since I never ventured into the “Help” menu, which is where you’ll find it. This option is not available in CS3. I am currently printing my own images (up to 13” wide X 44” long) on an Epson R1900 and the prints I have resized using this wizard come out beautifully on that printer. I have not yet sent these off to a print-house to test them, so before you decide to sell anything sized this way, you’ll need to obtain a test-print from the printer of your choice. Download the tutorial in PDF format from here / The pdf contains screen prints of the steps, so it should be simple for anyone to follow. Since I use Photoshop CS2, I have no idea if this option is available in prior versions, or if it is available in Photoshop Elements. You’ll need to look in your programs to see. Please Note* Starting with the highest quality of image you’ve got will help result in the best quality of print.

  A few months ago, I was looking through some of the RedBubble artwork, when I came across Elaine’s photo of a big pile of syringes. Intrigued, I read the story that went along with the photo. Elaine’s cat had converted from being insulin dependant to a normal cat. She helped facilitate the conversion by putting her cat on a much different diet than what the vet had recommended. / I contacted Elaine about this because I had a cat that was insulin dependent and barely able to walk from the symptoms of diabetes (down on his hocks from diabetic neuropathy). Elaine was kind enough to give me all the information that she had researched on cat diabetes and diet. / Using the guidelines that Elaine gave me, we drastically changed our cats diet. Here is the update on my diabetic cat: / Since we started the mostly meat diet, he has completely done a turn around. He is walking and running normally (no longer down on his hocks). He is starting to convert out of diabetes (something that cats can do, but not humans). We are in the process of weaning the insulin off. The vet was pretty surprised when we showed him the diet we have had him on. All the food we are feeding is organic. Chicken, salmon, tuna (not his favorite) and turkey are his mainstay. Once in a blue moon we give hamburger or steak as a treat. We feed him 4-6 smaller meals a day, plus he has a choice of having his dry food. He doesn’t eat much in the way of dry food however. / My other 2 cats are on the same diet for their health. If it weren’t for Elaine’s heads up on changing the diet for our cat, he would not be around today. The vet had estimated that he had less than 6 months to live. Now he is back to being a healthy, active, in your face cat. / Elaine’s image is a great example how art can impact lives. Her photograph was a statement that could have many meanings to different people. Many times we will never know how our art impacts people. That is why I am taking the time to write a thank you to Elaine. / So, to Elaine, a big thank you! / Cheers, / Deri
