Taken from top of the Empire State Building, NYC, 10:00 PM. / It was so windy up there I had to jam my lightweight tripod against the wall with my knee to keep everything still. Originally shot on Fuji 100 ISO color print film (see insert below), scanned to digital on a Canon FS2710 negative scanner, then converted to BW. 5005 views… 10 November 2009

This is a t-shirt idea my 7-year-old wanted me to make… Kinda random!!! :)
I was walking around in Brooklyn when I saw this huge ad for Ipods. I thought, hmmm…, they don’t call New York “Big Apple” for nothing! ;) / This looks like selective colouring but it’s not really. I did desaturate the surrounding slightly to bring out the orange but things were alreay very grey due to the industrial architecture and the weather being overcast. / This is Manhattan in the background.

Imagine all the people living life in peace. Imagine a world without terrorism. I created this as: A tribute to my hero, John Lennon. A tribute to all those lives lost and affected by 9/11. And a tribute to the most exciting city in the world, New York! .
I love the Big Apple and I love music. My last visit to New York inspired me to create this illustration.

I finally got some old pics scanned.. I love the big apple. born and raised there .. the memories this brings me .. this is our beloved Saint Patrick’s Cathedral . was here walking with my children.. we took a trip there so they could see where I came from.. this one is for you dear cousin happyfeet5 film photography from an instamatic camera Info / The land on which the present cathedral sits was purchased for $11,000 on March 6, 1810, as a site for a school for young Roman Catholic men, the New York Literary Institution, to be conducted by the Jesuits. The school closed and was sold to the diocese. In 1814, the diocese gave use of the property to Dom Augustin LeStrange, abbot of a community of Trappists (from the original monastery of La Trappe) who came to America fleeing persecution by French authorities. In addition to a small monastic community, they also looked after some thirty-three orphans. With the downfall of Napoleon in that year, the Trappists returned to France, abandoning the property. The property at this point was designated for a future cemetery. The neighboring orphanage was maintained by the diocese into the late 1800s. Some of the Trappists resettled to Canada and eventually founded St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts.
