woke up this morning to a bubblemail from richard veal host of Devon and Cornwall group to say that my photo Bidefrds pride and joy was chosen by Denise Gladwell to replace her work as avatar, so to denise you have made this welsh girl happy this bright sunny morning especially as this is the birthplace of my late mum also thanks to richard on a great group im soooooo chuffed

taken at bideford north devon, it is said that walter raleigh bought his first cargo of tobacco into bideford and bideford was one of the largest tobacco trading centres of that time

went over to north devon today, 3 hr drive, this is bideford bridge its where my late mum was from, whilst walking through bideford and around a host of childhood memories came back that i shared with wayne and my lads the wonderful thing was, and i know this sounds strange but it was like someone brushed my shoulder it felt like my mum was walking with me, so real was this that i began to cry, but wayne and the boys understood only too well

talk to anyone from bideford and they will all give memories of this proud old bridge which stradles the taw/torridge estuary mum used to tell me how she would leave a beau one side of the bridge then meet up with another the other side lol, such a floozy lol

this statue stands on bideford quay, north devon, as a child could always rember my mum saying look this is charles kingsley, at 8 or 9 i just thought and this is good because?...........older and a little wiser it thrills me to think that this is the author charles kingsley who wrote water babies for his youngest son, kingsley described bideford as “the little white town”
