This is from last year’s trip to Greece. This photo is from Chania, Crete. I was becoming a holiday snapper so I decided to put myself a project to keep me thinking in a creative way. The project had a simple enough title. “Bicycles”. After leaving Greece I still try to capture a good bike shot, but keeping the bikes as a small part of the compisition but still the point of interest.

An old bicycle at the old dairy factory Freia, Openluchtmuseum, Arnhem, Netherlands. The steam-driven factory Freia was the first dairy factory in the Dutch province of Friesland, starting its production in 1879 and continuing until 1970. In 1991, its oldest part was rebuilt in Openluchtmuseum (Open Air Museum) Arnhem. March 2008. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135, tripod. Post-processing: retouch, sharpening, color enhancement, crop.

It was a crisp October evening, just after sunset. I could see that everything was completely under control. The bicycle officer was peddling his beat on the levee near Bowman Field in Williamsport, PA. This image was captured handheld with a Canon EOS 10D camera through a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L USM professional lens zoomed to 120mm, shot at 1/500th sec @ f/4.5.
