Taken from my blog: I was going through some paintings in my studio and stumbled upon this one that I had done some time ago. I had initially put it aside calling it a “WIP” and had fully intended to go back and do more work on it but never did. I’d shown it as a WIP to some arteeeest friends who had liked it very much “as is” and then just rolled it up and forgot about it. It’s huge…not exactly sure off hand how large but it’s on unstretched canvas….I’d say about 4ft X 5ft. What this piece represents is (and I remember painting it during one of those dry spiritual periods when I was trying desperately to pray but just couldn’t find the words) our prayers, which are sometimes nothing more than moans and groans….but are interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit giving us a direct and uninterrupted line to our Father. This happens often during our times of spiritual emptiness when we are reaching out to God and the words just don’t come. For those of you who are Christians, you will know this scripture from the Bible: Romans 8:26 (New International Version) “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Anyway, when I pulled the painting out this morning, I decided that just as Jesus said on the cross, “it is finished”.....and would like to share it with you all. Never stop talking to God, He always hears….even the moans and groans! Be Blessed. /

I received a wonderful email this morining containing this letter. This letter inspired this work of art titled “Safely in Heaven”: THIS IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED: i DO NOT KNOW MEREDITH OR ABBEY, BUT THIS STORY IS BEAUTIFUL This is one of the kindest things I’ve ever experienced. I have no way of knowing who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office at the Post Office. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words: Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith. We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith,’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find, I am wherever there is love. Love, / God / ___ I personally believe all animals go to Heaven…. Re 5:9: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Re 5:12: Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Re 5:13: And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. / ____ I created this work using a photo I had taken of my sister-in-law’s pet rottweiler named Lady. I used Photoshop CS3 to merge the images with an image a statue of Jesus from the Huntington Library and a picture of clouds from Arizona. Finally, I edited the image with Micrografx and finished the work. Digitally enhanced. Lady was such a gentle sweetheart. She became ill from lukemia and eventully succombed to her illness. The beautiful thing is that my nieces had already come to the Lord berore this. This incident brought us all closer when we were able to show our family scripture to support our belief’s about animals being created to live forever. Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. Jesus says: For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. ~Mark 11:23 Digital Mixed Media Compiled in Photoshop CS2

When we put our eyes upon Christ, we find fear being washed away. We find He does not always keep us from the storm, but carries us safely through it. (Isa 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.) He is doing a mighty work in us that we do not fully understand. We find that that He gives us a peace that goes beyond understanding. (Php 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.) 1Jo 1:1:¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; / 1Jo 1:2: (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) / 1Jo 1:3: That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. / 1Jo 1:4: And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. / 1Jo 1:5: ¶ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. When we take our eyes off our problems and give our hearts to Christ, we give Him our problems and put Him in charge of solving them for us, He has the power to give us peace, to deal with our problems and make our lives complete. (Lu 1:78: Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, / Lu 1:79: To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.) / ___ This work was created using a photograph of my granddaughter Kortney and a photograph of a statue of Christ I took seveal years ago at the Huntington Library in California. I layered the images using PS_CS3. Then I enhanced the image using Paintshop Pro. Next, I further edited and enhanced the work with PS_CS3 and Micrographx to produce the finished product. An orthodox Jew is praying at the western wall in Jerusalem. The wall also known as the wailing wall or the “Kotel” is the most sacred and holy place for jews. This is the last remaining wall from the old temple that was destroyed over 2000 years ago. This person is using the old testament bible. The black outfit is typical to the orthodox jews.

Azure waves are melting away / giving birth to amber hues of evening. / I have nourished eager hearts / and comforted those around me. / Now in the pale moonlight / from my flesh great drops of blood now seep. / My body yearns for another way / exhausted in deep prayer I sink. / The path before me I have seen / the cup which only I can drink. / Droplets of blood fall to the ground / as I struggle knowing what lays before me. / An eon has passed and dawn draws near / and the angel is here to strengthen me. / In the distance I can hear them coming. / Now I will fulfill my destiny. amari / _______ Lu 22:39: ¶ And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. / Lu 22:40: And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. / Lu 22:41: And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, / Lu 22:42: Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. / Lu 22:43: And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. / ___ Digital image created with Apophysis Fractal art, edited with Photoshop CS3 and Micrografx. My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

part of the Orthodox Christian Soldier series ENCYCLOPEDIA LITAE (Litai), a personification of the prayers offered up in repentance. They are described as the daughters of Zeus, and as following closely behind crime, and endeavouring to make amends for what has been done; but whoever disdains to receive them, has himself to atone for the crime that has been committed. (Hom. Il. ix. 502, &c.; Eustath. ad Hom. p. 768; Hesych. s. v. Aigai, calls them Aetae, which however is probably only a mistake in the name.) I can’t imagine not knowing, never having learned, or going through life without the Lord’s Prayer. It’s how Jesus taught us to pray….and I wonder just how many children in today’s society don’t know it. People are so confused these days with the distortion of religion and faith…which are two completely different thing. Children have a natural ability to relate honestly and directly with their Creator and as Jesus said in Matthew 18:3 “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Children’s hearts are so pure and untainted. That’s what God wants from us. The great Picasso said it as it relates to art, so it relates to just about everything in life: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up” – Pablo Picasso

As those who know my work are all aware: I don’t usually “play with” Photoshop effects (of course except frames as I love framing). This time I can’t resist the concept so I used “vivid light” as an effect and add an extra gradient layer on top of the photo. I can only hope it worked.

Back in the deep summer, when all were in blossom and the leaves were rich in color and taste, the doe had plenty of time to experience the “other things” in life than just search for food. One day she decided to figure out what creature it was that I carried around with me and pushed at the top of the “head” from time to time to make a sound. She came so close to the lens that I had to quickly change to a wide-angle one in order to take this photo. Right after that instant, she took another step further to “pat” my “pet” with her tongue! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

The Lord has brought us together. / We shall want no other. / He shall make our way to prosper. / He will lead us into peace and harmony. / He daily restores our love for His Name’s sake. / He leads us in the right paths for which we give thanks. / Yes, we shall walk thru the valleys together. / Fearlessly, He will keep us with each other, / for He is with us. / He prepares a full table before us / & our cup is full of His blessings. / Surely His goodness & His mercy shall / follow us all the days of our lives. / And He shall dwell in our hearts and our home forever. This is a photo taken just before dawn in the woods of Mont Laurier, just before one reaches Val D’or, where one drives in the nearby Canadian national park for hours with only nature and wildlife. It’s a winter morning at about 5:30am and the camera is pointed away from where the sun was to come up.
