The Huntington’s superb botanical gardens cover 120 acres (485,624 m²) and the theme gardens contain rare plants from around the world. The gardens are divided into more than a dozen themes, including the Australian Garden, Camellia Collection, Children’s Garden, Desert Garden Conservatory, Conservatory for Botanical Science, Desert Garden, Herb Garden, Japanese Garden, Lily Pond, North Vista, Palm Garden, Rose Garden, Shakespeare garden, Subtropical and Jungle Garden and a Chinese Garden (Liu Fang Yuan 流芳園 or the Garden of Flowing Fragrance) now open in the northern end of the property. In addition, a large open field planted with Eucalyptus trees serves as a re-created “Australian Outback.” The Huntington has a program to protect and propagate endangered plant species. In 1999 and 2002, a specimen of Amorphophallus titanum, or “corpse flower”, bloomed at the facility. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Huntington Library was named after its founder Henry E. • And God created woman
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Ge 2:21: ¶ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; / Ge 2:22: And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. / _____ Abstract art digital composite using my photographs. Photoshop CS3 and Micrografx edited. Those are not tatoos on her body, it is the leafy overlay from the garden photo I used. She has no tatoos. This is my daughter, Deborah. I gave her one of my favorite Biblical names. It turns out that I named her appropriately. She is a born again Christian. She loves the Lord with all her heart. She has had her share of hardships and heartaches growing up and also in her early youth, but she has overcome those things and come out with a glowing spirit. She and her husband are leaders in the community and their church. They have 3 wonderful children that would be a blessing to anyone. They are blessings to me. When I look at her, her eyes sparkle with a love of life and Jesus fills her very being. It radiates from her face. Her beauty makes mine pale by comparison. I am short and she is tall, something I have always longed to be. Her devotion to her family and God brings out her true spiritual beauty which enhances the physical beauty she has been blessed with. There is no vanity in her, but a humble gentle spirit that I love and admire. Born and raised in California, she has the beauty and glamour, the poise and confidence you would expect from a California girl. I am so proud to have her for my daughter. • Royal Rose
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Purple has quite a wonderful story associated with it. It has played a significant role in history and in culture. The color purple is associated with royalty, mystery, wisdom and magic. Purple is a general term for the range of shades of color occurring between red and blue. When the soldiers were crucifying Jesus, they put upon his head a crown of thorns and clad him in a purple robe (signifiying royalty). / Joh 19:2: And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, / Joh 19:3: And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. Its found that purple is the most prefered color choice of all children. This color is rarely found in nature and is thought by some to be an artificial color. Light purple and dark purple have different meanings. While light purple gives off romantic feelings, a deep dark purple can create sadness. Purple robes are associated with royalty while the darkest purples are associated with funerals and death. Still a bright purple can reflect fun, playfulness and excitement to a child, while lavendar can give a feeling of calmness and peacefulness. Purple in its many tones can set the stage for many moods. Byzantine empresses gave birth in the Purple Chamber of the palace of the Byzantine Emperors. Therefore, being named Porphyrogenitus (“born to the purple”) marked a dynastic emperor as opposed to a general who won the throne by his effort. Alexander the Great (when giving imperial audiences as the emperor of the Macedonian Empire), the emperors of the Seleucid Empire, and the kings of Ptolemaic Egypt wore Tyrian purple. The imperial robes of Roman emperors were Tyrian purple trimmed in metallic gold thread. The badge of office of a Roman Senator was a stripe of Tyrian purple on their white toga.[6] Tyrian purple was continued in use by the emperors of the Eastern Roman Empire until its final collapse in 1453. Wikipedia Free Encylopedia There are many different shades of purple. Tyrian purple from which the name purple is derived, is the color of a dye made from a mollusk that, because of its incredible expense (many times more expensive than gold)[citation needed], in classical antiquity became a symbol of royalty because only the very wealthy could afford it. Therefore, Tyrian purple is also called imperial purple. Han purple is a type of artificial pigment found in China between 500 B.C. and 220 A.D.. It was used in the decoration of the Xian Terracotta Army. Han purple is a purple in the sense that the term is used in colloquial English, i.e., it is a color between red and blue; however, it is not a purple in the sense that the term is used in color theory, i.e. a non-spectral color between red and violet on the line of purples on the CIE chromaticity diagram. Royal purpleis bluer than the ancient Tyrian purple. In medieval Europe, blue dyes were rare and expensive,[7] so only the most wealthy or the aristocracy could afford to wear them. (The working class wore mainly green and brown.) Because of this (and also because Tyrian purple had gone out of use in western Europe after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in AD 476), Europeans’ idea of purple shifted towards this more bluish purple known as royal purple because of its similarity to the royal blue worn by the aristocracy. This was the shade of purple worn by kings in medieval Europe. Artists pigment purple (red-violet). ‘Royal purple’ or the dark violet color known as vulgar purple is the common layman’s idea of purple, but professional artists, following Munsell color system (introduced in 1905 and widely accepted by 1930), regard purple as being synonymous with the red-violet color shown at right, in order to clearly distinguish purple from violet and thus have access to a larger palette of colors[citation needed]. This red-violet color, called artist’s purple by artists, is the pigment color that would be on a pigment color color wheel between pigment violet and pigment (process) magenta. In the Munsell color system, this color at the maximum chroma of 12 is called Red-Purple. Electric purple is precisely halfway between violet and magenta and thus fits the artistic definition of purple. Using additive colors such as those on computer screens, it is possible to create a much brighter purple than with pigments where the mixing subtracts frequencies from the component primary colors. The equivalent color on a computer to the pigment color red-violet shown above would be this electric purple, i.e. the much brighter purple you can see reproduced on the screen of an electronic computer. This color is pure purple conceived as computer artists conceive it, as the pure chroma on the computer screen color wheel halfway between electric violet and electric magenta. Thus, electric purple is the purest and brightest purple that it is possible to display on a computer screen. These are just a few examples of the color purple. • Safely in Heaven
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I received a wonderful email this morining containing this letter. This letter inspired this work of art titled “Safely in Heaven”: THIS IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED: i DO NOT KNOW MEREDITH OR ABBEY, BUT THIS STORY IS BEAUTIFUL This is one of the kindest things I’ve ever experienced. I have no way of knowing who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office at the Post Office. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words: Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith. We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith,’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find, I am wherever there is love. Love, / God / ___ I personally believe all animals go to Heaven…. Re 5:9: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Re 5:12: Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Re 5:13: And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. / ____ I created this work using a photo I had taken of my sister-in-law’s pet rottweiler named Lady. I used Photoshop CS3 to merge the images with an image a statue of Jesus from the Huntington Library and a picture of clouds from Arizona. Finally, I edited the image with Micrografx and finished the work. Digitally enhanced. Lady was such a gentle sweetheart. She became ill from lukemia and eventully succombed to her illness. The beautiful thing is that my nieces had already come to the Lord berore this. This incident brought us all closer when we were able to show our family scripture to support our belief’s about animals being created to live forever. Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. • The Bible
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

We found this beautiful old Holy Bible in a bookstore several years ago. It has some marvelous images and even the apocrypha. The other things in the picture are all Christian related. The book on the right has a picture representing Jesus Christ and a Wedding Invitation. Directly above The Bible is a statuary of the Last Supper. To the left is a plate with four cups representing communion, the sacrament which we do in memory of Christ. In this picture the four cups represent The Father, The Son, The Holy Ghost and the partaker. The Partaker of the sacrament is spiritually accepting the flesh and blood of Jesus as atonement for his sins. Directly to the right of the Last Supper is a Star of David representing the source of Salvation which has its roots in David and Judah. The image to the right and below the Star of David is a Sand dollar. The Sand Dollar has a marvelous legend that goes with it. It is said that Christ left the sand dollar as a symbol to help the evangelists teach the faith. The five holes commemorate the five wounds of Christ, while at the center on one side blooms the Easter lily, and at the lily’s heart the star of Bethlehem. The Christmas poinsettia is etched on the other side, a reminder of Christ’s birth. According to this legend, if you break the center five white doves will be released to spread good will and peace. The Legend of the Sand Dollar There’s a lovely little legend / That I would like to tell, / Of the birth and death of Jesus / Found in this lowly shell. If you examine closely / You’ll see that you find here, / Four nail holes and a fifth one / Made by a Roman’s spear. On one side the Easter Lily, / Its center is the star, / That appeared unto the shepherds / And led them from afar. The Christmas Poinsettia / Etched on the other side, / Reminds us of His birthday / Our happy Christmastide. • Dragon
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Dragons are large and powerful mythological creatures that appear throughout the world’s cultures. The term also identifies any of a number of large lizards. The dragon is a legendary creature of which some interpretation or depiction appears in almost every culture worldwide. The physical description and supposed abilities of the creature vary immensely according to the different cultures in which it appears. However, the unifying feature of almost all interpretations is it being a serpentine or otherwise reptilian monster (or at least possessing a serpentine/reptilian part or trait), and often possessing magical or spiritual qualities. The two most familiar interpretations of dragons are either European dragons, derived from various European folk traditions, or unrelated Oriental dragons, derived from the Chinese dragon (lóng,龍,龙). The word “dragon” derives from Greek δράκων (drakōn), “a serpent of huge size, a python, a dragon” and that from from δρακεῖν (drakein) aorist infinitive active of the verb δέρκομαι (derkomai) “I see clearly”. / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dragons are also frequently mentioned in The Holy Bible and are usually references to Satan. • Perfect Peace
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

When we put our eyes upon Christ, we find fear being washed away. We find He does not always keep us from the storm, but carries us safely through it. (Isa 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.) He is doing a mighty work in us that we do not fully understand. We find that that He gives us a peace that goes beyond understanding. (Php 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.) 1Jo 1:1:¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; / 1Jo 1:2: (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) / 1Jo 1:3: That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. / 1Jo 1:4: And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. / 1Jo 1:5: ¶ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. When we take our eyes off our problems and give our hearts to Christ, we give Him our problems and put Him in charge of solving them for us, He has the power to give us peace, to deal with our problems and make our lives complete. (Lu 1:78: Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, / Lu 1:79: To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.) / ___ This work was created using a photograph of my granddaughter Kortney and a photograph of a statue of Christ I took seveal years ago at the Huntington Library in California. • My Church
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

A church is not made up of bricks and stones. It is made up of all the people who go there. The people are the lifeblood and purpose of the gathering place we call “My Church”. I was a member of this wonderful church in Orange, California called Orange Villa Bible Church. But we moved away from there and now we are seeking a new one. The new church we attend will have to go a long way to live up to the standards of this little church in Orange, California. The people and the pastor and his family made this the greatest church we have ever attended. They teach the word of God and are not afraid to stand up for the truth. The pastor always gave messages that touched the heart and soul when he shared his inspiration and teachings from the pulpit or in any personal capacity. We had wonderful family gatherings where everyone brought a dish, we played games, baseball, horse shoes, and much more. The whole atmosphere of the church is love and caring for one another and the love of Jesus Christ. I did this art as a composite to represent the whole church as I see it. I combined a picture of the church, the pastor and many of the members. I used overlays and special editing with Photoshop CS3 and Micrografx to create the finished work. US$4.99–US$133.00

My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

Lu 2:10: And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. / Lu 2:11: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. / Lu 2:12: And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. / Lu 2:13: And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, / Lu 2:14: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. / _____ This work is a composite of separate works of art created using Apophysis fractal art program. • The Passion
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Passion. The word and the origin: / Only once found, in Acts 1:3, meaning suffering, referring to the sufferings of our Lord. Acts 1:1: ¶ The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, / Acts 1:2: Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: / Acts 1:3: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: The Passion is the Christian theological term used for the events and suffering – physical, spiritual, and mental – of Jesus in the hours prior to and including his trial and execution by crucifixion. The Crucifixion is an event central to Christian beliefs. The etymological origins of the word lie in the Latin passus (stemming from pati, patior- “to suffer [to happen]”, in the passive sense), and it first appears in second century Christian texts precisely to describe the travails and suffering of Jesus in this present context. The word passion has since taken on a more general application. The term the Agony of Jesus is sometimes used alternatively, although it is more specifically applied to Jesus’ action (Greek agon) praying before his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane; similarly to passion, agony has been extended to denote a frame of mind. Those parts of the four Gospels that describe these events are known as the “Passion narratives”. The non-canonical Gospel of Peter is also a Passion narrative. The Passion according to the Gospels The narratives of the Passion are found in the four canonical gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Three of these, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the Synoptic Gospels, give very similar accounts. The Gospel of John includes additional details. The Passion begins at Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22 and John 12 with the conspiracy against Jesus, that then unfolds in eight scenes: A meal a few days before Passover, a woman anoints Jesus; the Last Supper shared by Jesus and his disciples; Gethsemane after the meal, a mob led by Judas Iscariot arrests Jesus; the Sanhedrin (Jewish supreme court) examine Jesus and determine he deserves to die; outside the high priest’s palace Peter has followed Jesus and joined the mob awaiting Jesus’ fate, Peter denies he knows Jesus; Pilate, the Roman governor, examines Jesus, decides he is innocent, but in response to the screaming mob Pilate sends Jesus out to be crucified; on Golgotha, a hill outside Jerusalem, Jesus is crucified and dies. The Gospel of Peter Further claims concerning the Passion are made in some non-canonical early writings. Another passion narrative is found in the fragmentary Gospel of Peter, long known to scholars through references, and of which a fragment was discovered in Cairo in 1884.
