  • The Chariot of Fire
    by StacyLee

    US$4.27–US$114.00

This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

Ge 1:14: ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: / Ge 1:15: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. / Ge 1:16: And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. / Ge 1:17: And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, / Ge 1:18: And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. / Ge 1:19: And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. / _____ Job 26:7: He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. / _____ Ps 33:6: By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. / Ps 33:7: He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. / Ps 33:8: Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. / Ps 33:9: For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. / ____ I used a drawing of the Earth. • Safely in Heaven
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I received a wonderful email this morining containing this letter. This letter inspired this work of art titled “Safely in Heaven”: THIS IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED: i DO NOT KNOW MEREDITH OR ABBEY, BUT THIS STORY IS BEAUTIFUL This is one of the kindest things I’ve ever experienced. I have no way of knowing who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office at the Post Office. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words: Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith. We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith,’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find, I am wherever there is love. Love, / God / ___ I personally believe all animals go to Heaven…. Re 5:9: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Re 5:12: Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Re 5:13: And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. / ____ I created this work using a photo I had taken of my sister-in-law’s pet rottweiler named Lady. I used Photoshop CS3 to merge the images with an image a statue of Jesus from the Huntington Library and a picture of clouds from Arizona. Finally, I edited the image with Micrografx and finished the work. Digitally enhanced. Lady was such a gentle sweetheart. She became ill from lukemia and eventully succombed to her illness. The beautiful thing is that my nieces had already come to the Lord berore this. This incident brought us all closer when we were able to show our family scripture to support our belief’s about animals being created to live forever. Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. • Seasons
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

  • Let There Be a Firmament

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Ge 1:6: ¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. / Ge 1:7: And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. / Ge 1:8: And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. This is my entry into the For Living Christianity group competition, day two, Genesis. this is a sunset taken a couple of weeks ago here in Mohave Valley, Arizona. • River's Snow Portrait
    by TerriRiver

    US$4.99–US$133.00

My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

  • Metamorphosis
    by Bonnie Taylor Barry

    US$4.27–US$114.00

I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

  • part of the Orthodox Christian Soldier series ENCYCLOPEDIA LITAE (Litai), a personification of the prayers offered up in repentance. They are described as the daughters of Zeus, and as following closely behind crime, and endeavouring to make amends for what has been done; but whoever disdains to receive them, has himself to atone for the crime that has been committed. (Hom. Il. ix. 502, &c.; Eustath. ad Hom. p. 768; Hesych. s. v. Aigai, calls them Aetae, which however is probably only a mistake in the name.) As those who know my work are all aware: I don’t usually “play with” Photoshop effects (of course except frames as I love framing). This time I can’t resist the concept so I used “vivid light” as an effect and add an extra gradient layer on top of the photo. I can only hope it worked.
