  • Intercessory Prayer
    by Ruth Palmer

    US$4.13–US$110.20

Taken from my blog: I was going through some paintings in my studio and stumbled upon this one that I had done some time ago. I had initially put it aside calling it a “WIP” and had fully intended to go back and do more work on it but never did. I’d shown it as a WIP to some arteeeest friends who had liked it very much “as is” and then just rolled it up and forgot about it. It’s huge…not exactly sure off hand how large but it’s on unstretched canvas….I’d say about 4ft X 5ft. What this piece represents is (and I remember painting it during one of those dry spiritual periods when I was trying desperately to pray but just couldn’t find the words) our prayers, which are sometimes nothing more than moans and groans….but are interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit giving us a direct and uninterrupted line to our Father. This happens often during our times of spiritual emptiness when we are reaching out to God and the words just don’t come. For those of you who are Christians, you will know this scripture from the Bible: Romans 8:26 (New International Version) “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Anyway, when I pulled the painting out this morning, I decided that just as Jesus said on the cross, “it is finished”.....and would like to share it with you all. Never stop talking to God, He always hears….even the moans and groans! Be Blessed. /

  • / / / Christmas Rainbows Nativity is a mixed media production on brown paper / I used white acrylic gesso under, with a mix of chalk pastel, black marker and charcoal to create this little piece especially for Christmas 2008 You may notice that each character has a Heart… / Jesus’ heart is white – symbolic of his purity / Mary has a pink heart – symbolic of a mother’s gentleness and softness / Joseph’s heart is red – symbolic of father’s strength and reliability The idea of sending Rainbow Wishes for Christmas 2008 seemed appropriate in light of our global situation, the Rainbow stands for Hope or Promises made that they will be fulfilled…. I think we are all hoping for the fulfillment of the promises made to us by our governments, our leaders, our friends and family for PEACE and GOODWILL towards all men, regardless of race or creed….and not least of all God himself who spoke about rainbows being a sign of promise and hope, and also Jesus who’s birth it is we celebrate, mainly because of the hope his birth put in our hearts for true freedom from our chains (but if you are not a believer, the artwork still speaks of the promise of hope…..if not a believer in hope…then this one isn’t for you …but perhaps it will speak to someone’s heart and help spread a little hope for the future around )

  • Wings of the Morning
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Ps 139:7: ¶ Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? / Ps 139:8: If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. / Ps 139:9: If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; / Ps 139:10: Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. / Ps 139:11: If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Isa 40:31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. / ___ This art was created using several of my photographs and merged them using Photoshop CS3. I started with a landscape, screened and merged it with a screen layer of clouds. Then I screened and added the eagle. All images were merged and hue adjusted. Next I screened and merged a second layer of clouds for the finished effects. I adjusted the gama light with Micrografx for the finish image. / Digitally enhanced. US$3.42–US$91.20

IT WAS A REAL LOVE SONG / I HEARD HIM SING TO ME. / IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT… / HIS VOICE SAID, “COME AND SEE.” “I HAVE PREPARED A PLACE / WHERE YOU WILL DWELL WITH ME.” / I HEARD HIS GENTLE VOICE / SAY TO ME SO QUIETLY. IT WAS THE SWEETEST SONG / ANYONE COULD EVER SING. / HE SAID, “I HAVE CHOSEN YOU / TO BE WITH ME ETERNALLY.” “I WILL BE YOUR GROOM,” / HIS SWEET VOICE SAID TO ME, / “YOU WILL BE MY BRIDE, / AND ALWAYS BE WITH ME.” IT WAS A REAL LOVE SONG, / MY SAVIOUR SANG TO ME. / HE SANG THESE SWEETEST OF WORDS, / I’LL TAKE YOU HOME WITH ME.” Lu 18:16 ”...Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” / Lu 18:17 “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” I found and photographed this beautiful sculpture at the wonderful Huntington Library Gardens in Southern California just outside Los Angeles. • The Bible
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

We found this beautiful old Holy Bible in a bookstore several years ago. It has some marvelous images and even the apocrypha. The other things in the picture are all Christian related. The book on the right has a picture representing Jesus Christ and a Wedding Invitation. Directly above The Bible is a statuary of the Last Supper. To the left is a plate with four cups representing communion, the sacrament which we do in memory of Christ. In this picture the four cups represent The Father, The Son, The Holy Ghost and the partaker. The Partaker of the sacrament is spiritually accepting the flesh and blood of Jesus as atonement for his sins. Directly to the right of the Last Supper is a Star of David representing the source of Salvation which has its roots in David and Judah. The image to the right and below the Star of David is a Sand dollar. The Sand Dollar has a marvelous legend that goes with it. It is said that Christ left the sand dollar as a symbol to help the evangelists teach the faith. The five holes commemorate the five wounds of Christ, while at the center on one side blooms the Easter lily, and at the lily’s heart the star of Bethlehem. The Christmas poinsettia is etched on the other side, a reminder of Christ’s birth. According to this legend, if you break the center five white doves will be released to spread good will and peace. The Legend of the Sand Dollar There’s a lovely little legend / That I would like to tell, / Of the birth and death of Jesus / Found in this lowly shell. If you examine closely / You’ll see that you find here, / Four nail holes and a fifth one / Made by a Roman’s spear. On one side the Easter Lily, / Its center is the star, / That appeared unto the shepherds / And led them from afar. The Christmas Poinsettia / Etched on the other side, / Reminds us of His birthday / Our happy Christmastide. Now break the center open / And here you will release, / The five white doves awaiting / To spread Good Will and Peace. This simple little symbol / Christ left for you and me, / To help us spread His Gospel / Through all Eternity (Author Unknown) Learn more here Photograph overlayed with Fractal art created with Apophysis. • Journey of The Soul
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

The soul has a journey that might also be called a quest. Each of us has one and no two are alike. We are unique beings created to last forever. This work represents The Spirit, The Living Soul. The Soul cannot be fathomed, it is bright and energetic, filled with a searching, reaching out, a brilliant vibrant light in the darkness. Genesis 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Luke 1:46: And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, / Luke 1:47: And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Matthew 16:26: For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 22:37: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Mark 12:30: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. John 12:27: Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Acts 2:23: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: / Acts 2:24: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. / Acts 2:25: For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: / Acts 2:26: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: / Acts 2:27: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. / Acts 2:31: He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. Romans 13:1: ¶ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 1Thessalonians 5:23: ¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. James 5:20: Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. / ______ Digital fractal art created with Apophysis, edited with Photoshp and Micrografx. • And God Said...
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Ge 1:20: ¶ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. I was working with a combination of an image I got several years ago from a newspaper story about the shroud of Turin. The original image was very poor and I had to recreate the face using the newspaper image as a model. Then I worked with I worked with Micrografx, Photoshop and Apophysis to create the finished work. I experimented a little and got several works that I really like. I hope you enjoy them. Although we do not know what Christ really looked like because the Hebrew people did not draw or paint images of anyone because it was against their religion, we do have ideas we have formed based upon legend and theories that have been passed down through time and have become a generally accepted image that comes to mind when we think of Christ. This series is enspired by scripture from the Holy Bible. This is the second of nine in the series. What I was amazed by is the same face looks so different when using a different overlay. It is so much like the many faces of God that we have come to know. Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. All images and writings are the copyright of the artist – © amari, amarica. • By His stripes we are healed
    by amarica

Mt 27:35: And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots Ga 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 1Corinthians 1:18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. / / Col 1:13: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: / Col 1:14: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: / / Ga 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 1Pe 2:21: For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: / 1Pe 2:22: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: / 1Pe 2:23: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: / 1Pe 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I was working with a combination of an image I got several years ago from a newspaper story about the shroud of Turin. The original image was very poor and I had to recreate the face using the newspaper image as a model. Then I worked with I worked with Micrografx, Photoshop, Photomatrix and Apophysis to create the finished work. I experimented a little and got several works that I really like. I hope you enjoy them. This series is inspired by scripture from the Holy Bible. This is the fifth of nine in the series. Jesus Christ the Messiah never committed a sin or a crime in thought, word or deed. Nevertheless, they crucified Him. Scripture tells us they were blinded for the sake of the Gentiles. That had they not crucified Him, we would not have His righteousness by which we might escape the punishment for our sins. He willingly took our sins upon Himself…and gave us His righteousness to wear as a cloak, a wedding garment which cleanses us and imputes His righteousness upon us when we accept it as a free gift…the greatest gift of all, eternal life. • My Church
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

A church is not made up of bricks and stones. It is made up of all the people who go there. The people are the lifeblood and purpose of the gathering place we call “My Church”. I was a member of this wonderful church in Orange, California called Orange Villa Bible Church. But we moved away from there and now we are seeking a new one. The new church we attend will have to go a long way to live up to the standards of this little church in Orange, California. The people and the pastor and his family made this the greatest church we have ever attended. They teach the word of God and are not afraid to stand up for the truth. The pastor always gave messages that touched the heart and soul when he shared his inspiration and teachings from the pulpit or in any personal capacity. We had wonderful family gatherings where everyone brought a dish, we played games, baseball, horse shoes, and much more. The whole atmosphere of the church is love and caring for one another and the love of Jesus Christ. I did this art as a composite to represent the whole church as I see it. I combined a picture of the church, the pastor and many of the members. I used overlays and special editing with Photoshop CS3 and Micrografx to create the finished work. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

  • Metamorphosis
    by Bonnie Taylor Barry

    US$4.27–US$114.00

I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

  • A Modern Day Golgotha
    by Glen Allen

    US$5.70–US$152.00

The Angel of the North one of the most photographed works of public art n the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience.

  • The Passion
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Passion. The word and the origin: / Only once found, in Acts 1:3, meaning suffering, referring to the sufferings of our Lord. Acts 1:1: ¶ The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, / Acts 1:2: Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: / Acts 1:3: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: The Passion is the Christian theological term used for the events and suffering – physical, spiritual, and mental – of Jesus in the hours prior to and including his trial and execution by crucifixion. The Crucifixion is an event central to Christian beliefs. The etymological origins of the word lie in the Latin passus (stemming from pati, patior- “to suffer [to happen]”, in the passive sense), and it first appears in second century Christian texts precisely to describe the travails and suffering of Jesus in this present context. The word passion has since taken on a more general application. The term the Agony of Jesus is sometimes used alternatively, although it is more specifically applied to Jesus’ action (Greek agon) praying before his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane; similarly to passion, agony has been extended to denote a frame of mind. Those parts of the four Gospels that describe these events are known as the “Passion narratives”. The non-canonical Gospel of Peter is also a Passion narrative. The Passion according to the Gospels The narratives of the Passion are found in the four canonical gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Three of these, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the Synoptic Gospels, give very similar accounts. The Gospel of John includes additional details. The Passion begins at Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22 and John 12 with the conspiracy against Jesus, that then unfolds in eight scenes: A meal a few days before Passover, a woman anoints Jesus; the Last Supper shared by Jesus and his disciples; Gethsemane after the meal, a mob led by Judas Iscariot arrests Jesus; the Sanhedrin (Jewish supreme court) examine Jesus and determine he deserves to die; outside the high priest’s palace Peter has followed Jesus and joined the mob awaiting Jesus’ fate, Peter denies he knows Jesus; Pilate, the Roman governor, examines Jesus, decides he is innocent, but in response to the screaming mob Pilate sends Jesus out to be crucified; on Golgotha, a hill outside Jerusalem, Jesus is crucified and dies. The Gospel of Peter Further claims concerning the Passion are made in some non-canonical early writings. Another passion narrative is found in the fragmentary Gospel of Peter, long known to scholars through references, and of which a fragment was discovered in Cairo in 1884. • My Saviour, My Friend (2006)
    by Ruth Palmer

    US$4.13–US$110.20

I promised to share this with the “For The Love Of Jesus” group. / This painting was done in 2006. It’s nothing more than a preliminary scumble but this is how it happened and it is very special to me just the way it is (taken from the About.com forum posted in 2006).As most of you already know, my personal faith in the Lord Jesus is very strong.Yesterday, I ran down to gesso a canvas just before I had to go and pick up my children from school. I mixed some white gesso and burnt umber, painted the background, and all of a sudden the overwhelming urge came over me to paint My Saviour, My Friend. I grabbed a dry brush and scumbled this painting. It’s a self-portrait of me and my Jesus. I can’t explain it, I just do as I am told. It was all done in about 3 – 5 minutes. I decided to leave it as is, exactly the way the Lord gave it to me because He loves us so much, imperfections and all. I know this is hard for some of you to understand and I certainly do not intend to start any kind of debate. I just wanted to share with you all. I wish all of you His blessings this day. / The rest of the thread can be found here if anyone is interested: / My Saviour My Friend
