I didn’t know this sort of thing happened on the bubble. I just received an email from a person named linda001my This is the Email: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/2603898427_718cd3df09_o.jpg Now for those that don’t know these sort of scams, their called 419, or Advance Fee scams. You can find out more about them here: http://www.419scam.org/emails/2006-07/08/610142.59.htm http://www.419scam.org/419scam.htm I don’t know if this is a normal occurrence at redbubble, but it certainly has never happened to me before here. I am infuriated that this sort of behavior exists on this fine website. Of course I immediately reported the email, but I knew I had to let everyone know. Even though this is a well known scam, for every few that know, there will be others that don’t know and can be fooled. These scams work, thats why people do them. So I thought you should all be informed of at least this one Scammer. Hopefully everyone can be educated about this sort of thing, and not fall for these lies. Thank you for your time. Vestque

Saturday, Part 1 (beware, photos galore)

I’ve got to keep these journal posts going, I get lazy and forget about it…. it makes it easy for my mum to keep track of what I’m up to Hi mum :) ...so on to Saturday, at Jo O’Brien’s residence. What a day. New friends, old friends, cameras, lights, ideas and blood. Jo and James did a superb job of setting up a great studio, and a super environment where everyone felt comfortable and safe. Friends of mine, Lauren and Seana were spending their first extended periods in front of the camera. Malia the marvellous on the other hand, took the opportunity to hurl herself around the room at a blistering pace. Hoolahopping, acrobatic falls, handstands (with bum drum playing), arguments with clown noses, dancing, high kicks and flipping off cameras are just part of the insanity she brought to the table. More and her, and her equally talented friend Jill in Part 2 Seana and I have gone to more than a few gigs together, and snuck in the odd picture or two. This was our first proper shoot as collaborators, and it went incredibly well. With more than a little art direction and blood stirring from Jo, I love the results / / / / / / fun! To take full advantage of the setup, my dear friend Lauren joined the fun. She is a stunning young lady, and looking to do a bit more modelling in the future. I adore the photos, she has the most beautiful features / / / / / / / Adrian Carmody

Buyer Beware - The sad tale of a 50D, lens and battery grip
by Paul ThompsonI hope this is a warning to anyone…
I hope this is a warning to anyone who is thinking of buying a camera on eBay. A couple of weeks ago I sold a camera on eBay. The instructions to the buyer was to deposit the funds directly into my bank account. Sadly, he didn’t do that, but put them in my PayPal account. As I didn’t have a bank registered with PayPal I could not access them. Plan A was to buy a Canon EOS 50D Premium Kit from one of the local camera stores. I had one on the hold shelf waiting. Plan A fell into a hole. Rather than wait the time to register a bank with PayPal, get my funds, and buy my camera locally, I decided to buy one of eBay. I found a 50D kit at a reasonable price, which incidentally was slightly more expensive that I could buy it from my trusty local camera shop. (I won’t tell you who the shop is … Photographic Wholesalers in Adelaide. :-o They are good.) Anyway, I purchased a Canon 50D, 18-200mm lens, and BG-E2 Battery Grip from, what looked like a reputable eBay shop. They claimed to have 3 cameras on hand and they were located in Melbourne. I paid my AU$2850 within minutes of committing to buy the goods. That was 12 days ago – it has been a long 12 days. The day after I made the purchase I emailed the seller and got no response. Two days after I made the purchase I again emailed the seller. Same result. Three days after, eBay delisted the seller from their site and my purchased goods disappeared from my “Won Items” folder on my eBay account. Thankfully I purchased with PayPal, but a resolution was far from happening quickly. PayPal do provide guarantees against being ripped off, but it is a very slow and tedious process. About 5 days after the sale, after PayPal and eBay had contacted the seller, I received an email saying he would honour the sale and send me the Camera, Lens and Battery Grip. That was a week ago. Last thursday the seller again promised to send my goods, but said he was waiting to receive stock. (He did say he had 3 on the shelf). He promised to send them on Friday. On Friday he promised to send them Saturday or Monday… Do you see a theme happening here? I have to say that both eBay and PayPal were initially very responsive and helpful. All I can hope for is a resolution of this saga before too much longer. I do have my Dad’s original 110mm bellows film camera that was made in the 1930s, and I may be using it for my main camera! So anyway, buyer beware. Paul

Hi every one, If you ever see a link to a website titled “picture.com”, do not even think of going there… it is a scheme to take your dollars that is absolutely unacceptable. If memory serves me correctly, I saw the link on google.com.au website. I do not know how or if anything can be done about this so called “business” of sorts… the site http://www.baltimore.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bid=5437offers more information about their covert practices. No doubt, there are many sites on the net that are similar… it just means that we must all be very cautious. I pass on my gratitude to Mark Snelson and Anne van Alkemade for their feedback… and in time too… I was planing to respond to their “invitation” to provide my “profile” and to buy the book “Endless Journeys” in the coming week. It has saved me over $100 dollars. I guess it puts some strength behind the old phrase “let the buyer beware!”. / Thanks again to Mark and Anne, Craig Watson

How special is that? A piratical avatar courtsey of Shanina! I’ve loved Shan’s glamour girls and wicked redheads from just about the start of Bubble and then her Dark Angel inspired my When Stars Fall ... discovering we were both drinking port on the same summer night was simply a gracenote to an ongoing random discussion that forms the spine of my Siren’s Gate ( @ RB ) series. So if pirates/hellions of the high seas sail into the Gate, don’t be surprised. She tells me the corncob pipe makes me look literary as well as dangerous and keep out of my way / / And one more thing… I have a new toy: Siren’s Gate

This weekend saw the sale of an original Lenny’s Motorcycles T-shirt to a mystery buyer. Previously, this range of T-shirts was only available to a small, elite group of selected individuals. / Now they have been unleashed on the general public, we feel that a wider warning is necessary. !!! THESE T-SHIRTS ARE A POWERFUL APHRODISIAC !!! This warning is specifically aimed at Geeks, Nerds and any other cosmetic-wearing soft-cock males. Make no mistake. By wearing a shirt from this range, you are entering a level of cool normally reserved for the higher echelons of rock and movie stardom. In a pre-PC world you would now be known as a “pussy-magnet” with a stronger attraction than any known pheremone. / You are now set to attract the type of women that you may never take home to meet Mother. The style and bad-boy chic that you now posess will attract the type of insatiable lust that you have only read about in comics. So be prepared four-eyes. Strap on some new runners, pop some heavy duty prophylactics into the rucksack, (preferably Red ribbed rough-riders for her pleasure) and tell Mum you won’t be home tonight. That’s right Tristan, a different kind of WOW for you tonight. You’re leaving the club early and sleeping over……without pyjamas. As a further warning, if any of these wild women produce handcuffs or any other similar restraining devices, run for your life! Our team has identified a devious group of sociopathic women who lure wearers of our T-shirts with the promise of some playful bondage. Once the victim is firmly secured these evil creatures steal the T-shirts using that trick girls do where they take off their bras without removing their top. They then make their getaway, leaving the victim unsatisfied and humiliated in his ridiculous boxer shorts. Such is the desire for an original Lenny’s Motorcycles T-shirt that this type of twisted, extreme behaviour is common. (It must be said that the girls do look fabulous in the entire range, available in standard, v-neck or girly fitted) / Are you ready for this geek-boy? You have been warned. !!! These shirts must be worn with extreme caution !!!

Beware the Bandito
by SlonieThis is a public service announce…
This is a public service announcement. In case you ever find yourself in a Western and get into a gunfight with the bad guy’s gang, you should really steer clear of the Bandito. These guys are nothing but trouble! First off, they’ve got bandoleers, giving them a nearly endless supply of lead to sling your way. Second, they’ve got a sombrero, which confers a huge tactical advantage to the wearer by keeping the sun out of their eyes. Third off, they most likely have a magnificent mustache, which is a source of their power. Heed this advice and you’ll do just fine.
